Black Bear has good wait staff, courteous, helpful, observant, even when serving single diners when they don't expect much of a tip. Food is casual, homey comfort food, heavy on fried, salty stuff, dished up in typical (obscenely) huge American portions. I will compliment their fresh salads with greens and veggies other than plain old iceberg lettuce. Menu features big breakfast platters, burgers and chili, lots of beef, not much fish. Locals eat here, which is a good sign for lots of caloric value for the money.
