Finally made it to Jasper's, stopping for early lunch on our way to southern California. Now we know why it's rated Medford's favorite burger joint!
It's a throwback to pre-fast food days featuring made-to-order burgers, fries, rings and shakes. Service is reasonably quick, and there are just a handful of tables inside with a few picnic tables outside. We noticed quite a few customers picking up orders to go.
We ordered the Classic burger (mine with just mustard, catsup, pickle and onion) and the Ortega burger boasting a slab of green chile with just the right balance of heat and flavor.rs. OJ loved it! The 1/3 pound beef patties were juicy and flavorful, with a perfect grill crust. Onion rings were similarly excellent and the chocolate shake was perfect, right down to the metal cup with the "extra" creamy goodness.
Quite a feast for about $20. Our 11:30 lunch kept us more than satisfied until dinner at about 7 that evening. We had hoped to stop at Jasper's again on the return trip as several other burgers had caught our eye, but our return timetable changed so we drove through Medford around 8:30 Sunday morning, well before opening time. But the next time through, I'm looking forward to a showdown with the Doc Holliday burger -- topped with onion rings, BBQ sauce and shredded sharp cheddar.
