After reading some negative reviews, I was apprehensive about going the stay at Belknap. It was absolutely lovely. From the check in with a lovely lady, to finding our spot right on the river with our RV, to the end of our 3 nights there, I was glad I had come. Beautiful gardens, warm pools, rushing river, what more could you want.
If watching TV and being connected to the Internet continually is your thing, you should just go elsewhere and the the beauty for the rest of us.

OMG... This place is amazing. You fall asleep to the wonderful roar of the beautiful McKenzie River. So beautiful! We got the room on the end, 2nd floor. Has vaulted ceilings and you sleep up in the loft. Also has wonderful balcony... Can just keep the doors open... No bugs. Nice to sit out and enjoy the river and McKenzie mist rolling down at night. There is a whitewater rafting outfitter on site (definitely recommend). Gardens and hot springs AMAZING. They have a huge library of movies to rent but no cable (who needs it). Also have a little store with candy, drinks, some food, junk food which can come in handy. Breakfast wasn't all that great but just glad they had something (and coffee!).

My family has gone camping at Belknap Hot Springs annually for 10 years and normally just put up with the poor customer service and rude behavior of Marlene (the older woman who is the manager at the front desk) but the past couple years we have had our fill and do not plan to return! One of the sites we reserved (1 year ago) was Tent Site 4. It's a large site in the back and we were told (by another employee) that it used to be 2 sites but they had to move one to another location due to "customer dissatisfaction". We confirmed that we would be the only ones in the site. One night Marlene rented out half of our site to someone else! She had the nerve to tell the people that she asked us and we said it was OK! What actually happened was she drove up on a cart and told us to move our car. When we told her we were staying in the site she said oh...well someone is going to park there and then left quickly without saying anything else. When we contronted her about her unethical behavior she defended herself by saying they sometimes park a trailer on the side and that it would be no different if someone stayed there in it's place! What logic is that! She told us we were "mean" people by not consenting. I was told the other family became angry and demanded their money back.

Last year was also a problem...we reserved 2 sites for our annual trip but when the second family arrived they charged our credit card for it. The other family said they presented their credit card at check-in but apparently it wasn't charged. I admit it could have been an "honest" mistake but when I called Marlene to request a refund she said she couldn't "because SOMEONE had to pay for it" and that we needed to get the money from the other family. This puts friends in an uncomfortable situation when Marlene should have done the customer friendly thing by refunding our money and then contacted the other family herself.

I'm very dissapointed that we've had such poor service by Marlene because the hot springs are wonderful and the gardens are beautiful!

I have stayed a the springs before but in a cabin about 15 years ago. We were a couple at the time with no children. Now as returning guests we had our two children with us age 9 and 5. Because the cost of the cabins exceeds our budget of $150 a night we decided to stay in a tent this time. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff that seemed irritated, short tempered and unwelcoming. Not a great way to start off the weekend. Once we found the tent site, I would have to say we were shocked and disappointed to see that tent sight T5 is next to the maintenance shack at the back of the property near the upper pool. The sight bordered 3 or 4 other RV sights with no foliage between them. Our view on one side was the maintenance shack with a broken down quad jacked up on 3 wheels, garbage cans and a cargo trailer that belonged to the resort. The other side was 4 families camping in their RV's. Luckily they were extremely nice and we had no issues with noise, dogs or kids. Fortunately, the backside of the sight was all forested and beautiful. Without that we would have been irate about the location. One thing I forgot to mention is that the tent sights do not have a water source! No faucet, no pump...nothing. We were trying to get fresh water for cooking, hot chocolate, face washing, hand washing etc and either had to go to the bathroom or ask our neighbors across the street to use their hookup. Not fun with kids or if you have a camp stove!

The hot springs were wonderful but the 104 degree temp only allows you to stay in for a few minutes before having to get out and cool off. The bathrooms at the upper pool were cleaned every morning but needed to be better kept throughout the day. They are old, small (with only 2 stalls and 2 showers ) and outdated. For the amount of people staying here they should be much bigger. The bathrooms at the lower pool were much nicer and bigger but that is quite a trek to get to from the upper level RV and camping area to the lower pool and lodge.

The gardens and trails are magnificent and beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed hiking them and exploring.

The snack shack on site was not a good food choice. We were not expecting gourmet but the "chicken wrap" was something my 5 year old could have put together. In fact- it looked and tasted like it as well. The wait was over 1/2 hour for 3 items and the poor guy running the shack seemed overwhelmed and inexperienced.

I am sad that Belknap has gotten so big that it ignors the small things that made it so special many years ago. If you do go here do not expect a 5 star resort or spa. Its simply not that. Its an RV park and campground that has an older rustic lodge and swimming pools that are heated naturally. The unfortunate thing is that they charge so much for staying here that you would expect much better.

I normally don't do much reviewing on trip advisor because I like to form my own opinions of things but I felt compelled to let people know this place could use help- especially in the customer service area.

Seems as if I am just reiterating the comments of many other patrons. The rude staff and poor management will drive this business into the ground. Honestly the last time we were there, we were checking out and asked to bring our dirty towels from the room to the front desk before we could check out. Really, bus your own towels like dishes at a fast food restaurant? Oooooh, the lap of luxury my friends!

The property, landscaping, trails, etc. at Belknap Hot Springs are beautiful and well cared for (they deserve a 4+ rating). The bathrooms, however, are HORRIBLE. My family was disgusted that EVERYtime we entered the restrooms there was toilet paper and water all over the floors, toilets overflowed and the mess was left. Showers are disgusting, so much so that we left a day early to shower at home. Soap dispensers were not filled for more than 24 hrs. at the sinks in the bathrooms. The pools need to be THOROUGHLY cleaned as well (black stuff/mold? around the rim of the pools). It appears that there isn't enough help to keep the pools and the restrooms clean, they need to hire more help AND remodel and update the restrooms to accommodate the high level of people who use them. My daughter got 2 deep slivers and my grandson got one as well from the wooden deck in the main pool area, they need to be treated. They are charging PLENTY to stay there so where does the money go?

Having recently stayed in a high quality RV park in Sisters, OR where it is obvious the money goes into the park for the enjoyment of guests makes me wonder if we will ever return to Belknap.

We thought this place was quite a find. We spent 1 night in rv spot 17. The spots are close, but not cramped, and we could sit looking out at the river. Soaking in the pool by moonlight was a wonderful experience after our grueling hike that day, and the gardens reminded us of an old s chateau grounds in Belgium. Great fun to explore. The river is beautiful, and it was only about 100 yards from our campsite to the Mackenzie river trail, that runs along it for miles. The showers/restrooms were clean, although it was awkward not to have a place to change by the shower. We are very glad we didn't let the bad reviews chase us off. It was a unique, lovely stop on our 10 day odyssey. By the way, they are putting in some really cool tent spots on the river near the gardens. You would have to pack in, but it would be worth it (and still just 5 minutes to walk to pool)

Room Tip: I think any of the perimeter spots would be fairly scenic
