We would never stay here again. I checked in feeling optimistic and wanting to like the place based on all the improvements I read about in other reviews. But by the end of the three days we couldn't wait to leave and felt so disappointed, uncomfortable, and betrayed. We were charged $100 for leaving our dogs for two hours resting in the room because they were shivering from a full morning of running and playing in the cold Oregon ocean. And we were treated so rudely...
PROS: (1) across street from beach; (2) allows dogs; (3) free breakfast.
CONS: (1) no pool; (2) poor exercise room with 3 low-end machines only; (3) average breakfast with very few gluten-free options and hot water that wasn't hot enough to cook oatmeal; (4) poor layout for many, many dog visitors because all pets stay on second floor where rooms are crammed together like sardines and have thin walls to create a type of high-density housing for dogs that makes them agitating to each other; (5) noisy from dogs barking at all hours and freeway traffic; (6) dysfunctional room with no lock on sliding door, no screen on sliding door, sink that didn't drain, electrical outlets that were scarily flickering, burned/stained bathtub, opposite hot/cold faucets, severely scratched sink; (7) many "smell spots" from dogs that were covered over with an overwhelming odor control or cleaning chemical; (8) stiff penalty and fees; (9) untrustworthy staff.
WHEN WE WERE LOCKED OUT OF OUR ROOM TO BE TOLD WE WERE BEING CHARGED $100 FOR LEAVING OUR DOGS FOR TWO HOURS IN THE ROOM, THE FRONT DESK CLERK HAD BEEN TELLING A PHONE CUSTOMER THAT THEY WERE GETTING THE LAST VACANT ROOM. YET WE WERE THEN TOLD THAT WE "COST" THEM THREE CUSTOMERS. IF THEY WERE SOLD OUT (AS WE HEARD HER SAY), THEN IT'S HARD TO BELIEVE WE COST THEM ANYTHING. SHE TOLD US SHE TRIED TO CALL OUR PHONE NUMBER ON FILE BUT IT SAID IT WAS A DISCONNECTED NUMBER. UPON CHECKING MY ACCOUNT, I'VE SEEN THAT BOTH MY CELL AND HOME NUMBERS ARE CURRENT AND ACTIVE ONES. DID SHE REALLY TRY TO CALL MY CELL PHONE THAT I HAD IN MY JACKET POCKET AND HAS NO LOG OF IT? UPON CHECKOUT, THE CLERK PRINTED A RECEIPT THAT SHOWED THEY CHARGED MY CREDIT CARD $150 INSTEAD OF THE STATED $100. WE HAD TO CALL THE MANAGER TO CREDIT US THE EXTRA $50. WERE THEY JUST TRYING TO LET THAT EXTRA FIFTY BUCKS SLIP BY AND HOPEFULLY GO UNNOTICED? HE THEN PROCEEDED TO BE RUDE AND SAY, "I DON'T KNOW WHY ANYONE WOULD BRING THEIR DOGS ON VACATION AND THEN LEAVE THEM IN THE ROOM." (DID I MENTION THAT OUR DOGS WERE SHIVERING FROM COLD OREGON WATERS AND NEEDED TO WARM UP FOR A COUPLE HOURS BEFORE OUR NEXT OUTING?) HE WAS INSULTING AND RUDE. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TREATED SO POORLY AT ANY HOTEL. EVER. MY POOR KIDS WERE SO UPSET AND KEPT TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHY THE HOTEL STAFF WERE BEING SO MEAN.
