After having read Tripadvisor's top 10 places to stay in Lincoln City, Oregon and wanting to stay oceanfront at a place central to the 7 mile stretch of beach, we chose the Westshore Motel. We did not know what to expect as there were few pictures online and now I know why.
The Westshore Motel is a very old property requiring some serious TLC. Although the location and views are amazing, the rooms and building have little to be desired. First off, the room smelled old and wet. We did not sleep well during our stay as the mattresses were very uncomfortable and needed replacing (ours bowed outward and our friends next door inward). In addition, the walls and ceiling were paper thin causing every noise to be heard. Also, there is apparently no insulation as a breeze could be felt throughout our room from one end to the other. The bathroom felt unclean and dingy with mildew that could be seen in most corners and cracks. The tub was chipped in a number of places with an abnormally low shower head.
In summary, the Westshore Motel is ideal for those seeking very basic accommodations with a great oceanfront location. However, we found this property not to be a good value as it was overpriced (especially since it was off-season) and considering one could obtain a nicer room in a newer oceanfront property just down the road for just an extra $30 more! You are only paying for location, not accommodations/amenities. Do your research.
