“Wonderful family & canine retreat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

We were told about Sea Horse by some friends who own dogs. They visit regularly & rave about the place. With their prices so affordable, we reluctantley made a reservation to check it out. I am pretty picky about doggy smell, and prepared myself for such a smell in our room. I was AMAZED! Our room was so clean & fresh smelling, that we didnt allow our dogs on the carpet at first. I thought maybe "pet friendly" meant they had to stay on tiled entry way & bathroom! We have stayed several times now, and I can attest to the fact that their pet rooms are clean & smell even better than my own home! I really need to find out what cleaning solutions they use on their carpets & bedding! This hotel features an indoor pool, outdoor hot tub overlooking the beach, cont'l breakfast and easy beach access & views from the rooms. They even give pet treats at check in! We love this place and plan to spend a lot of time there!

This motel is an older building, however recent bathroom remodel, New carpet, Windows and TV up grades make this a better than average motel. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. We had a room on second floor without a balcony which would have been nice. Now all of that is covered, let's talk about the view. That is why we go to the coast. Motel sits on a cliff about 5 stories above the beach- absolutely fantastic view!! The Windows were large enough to lay in bed and watch the waves. Windows open so you can open them to get the ocean sounds. They have concrete stairs (100 steps) down to the beach. If you are not looking for that much exercise, do like we did and drive 4 blocks down the road and drive down to the beach. There is about 100 yards north and south they allow cars on the beach. Walking north OR south is easy from there. Many restaurants available in city.

Room Tip: 2nd floor adds to view.

Traveling and choosing your place to stay can be difficult, but from now on, if traveling to or close to Lincoln City, we know exactly where to go. Rooms designated, if you are traveling with your pet. Our room was on the corner and had views of the ocean from different angles. We absolutely loved our stay. Staff was quick and helpful. Rooms were clean and the swimming pool was a fun addition! Easy access to beach...just steps/stairs away.

Room Tip: Use the 'handy dandy' virtual map they have on their website! :)

We stayed at the Sea Horse this week (Feb. 2013). The views are spectacular, the rooms are fresh, clean and recently updated, and the continental breakfast was very welcome. The beds were comfortable, and the staff was cheerful and helpful. There is a long walk down the steps to the beach, but the stairs are right next to the hotel, so it's very convenient. The pool was clean and made our winter vacation feel like a summer vacation. You just can't beat the views! I like the addition of balconies. We stayed there 10 years ago, and I don't think they had them then. I would definitely recommend the Sea Horse Oceanfront.

Room Tip: The suite with a balcony is a great option for travelers with kids. Being able to close a door on t...

Haven't been to Lincoln City in over 10 years, use to stay at a hotel a few blocks away, but no longer there....so we drove up the street and found the Sea Horse. We lucked out! It was great. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We got a room on the main floor, steps away from the pool, office and breakfast room. Breakfst was great. They had oatmeal, cereal, muffins, bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee, tea and cocoa. Well stocked, didn't run out of food even though we didn't make it down for breakfast until 30 min before close. Room was very nice, very clean, comfy bed. We had a walk in shower and love that the sink and mirror is in different space than the tub and potty. Huge windows overlooking the beach and ocean...slept with the window's opened...forgot how much i miss that sound and smell. Would and will stay at the Sea Horse agian...hopefully this summer!

We go to lincoln City for a get away twice a year and always stay here. We love room 211 its a 2 queen beds and a gas fire place and couch and small table for 2. With a very big picture window loooking over the cliff its so relaxing. This room is also pet friendly we travel with a large dog and small. Staff over the years have stayed friendly.

To be honest, I probably wouldn't have booked this place based off the name alone. I suspected it might be an older property that is popular only due to its location. However, I was very pleasantly surprised! We booked the Romantic Suite (king bed, jacuzzi tub for two, kitchenette, private balcony) at the last minute and got it for a reasonable price. The lady at the front desk was extremely busy, but she kept pace and was very pleasant to everyone that came in (regardless of their personal attitudes.) She was very helpful and sweet, despite being overwhelmingly busy! Our room was AMAZING. Hardwood floors, private bedroom, comfortable bed, and a nice living room with a gas fire pot belly heater. The view was wonderful and the set up was comfortable and homey.
The only down side to this place is the continental breakfast and it's location. A bit of a scary spot in the "dungeon" of the lower level of the complex behind what one can only assume used to be very unpopular rooms for renting out. You have to use your room key to get it (which makes you wonder if all the doors have universal door locks) and the pickings are really slim in a very crowded attempt at a breakfast room. It's a nice try, but wouldn't recommend it at all.
However, the room and the staff (including housekeeping) were exceptional. We would definitely stay there again and in the same room. Well worth it.

Room Tip: Parking is a bit confusing, so be sure to ask if you have any questions before walking away from you...
