“Not basic, just bad”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

Normally stay at Liberty Inn, but believed the reviews on this place. I dislike paying for non-needed items (toiletries, 25 bed pillows, lap desk, travel books, etc.) so gave this self advertised "basic, but clean motel" a try on 25 June 2014. First problem: one table lamp in the room (#17) with one DIM wall sconce. Easy to unplug and move back and forth as needed to only one other plug in the room, though, as the surge bar was hanging below the TV with 4 plugs (lamp, TV, microwave, fridge). Second problem: Missing multiple slats on vertical blinds so when closed, looked like a kid with missing teeth. No privacy, but the light was so dim inside....Three: Woman screaming at night - was someone looking through her missing slats? Four: Bathroom floor was sssooo sticky it actually pulled one's slippers off your feet. Morning problems: Never thought to check if there was a hangle to operate the shower before needing a shower at 7 AM. Handle was on the floor of the shower. Stuck/torqued it in the wall hole/faucet control and got water on...unfortunately, no control of hot or cold, so mostly cold water. To compensate, tried to turn on the bath heater. You got it. Not working. Ran out of room on the "what do you think" type card, so carried shower handle down to office to speak to someone. Had to LITERALLY wade through (and this is gross) dozens of tampons and tubes scattered all over in front of their slider door (which was almost impossible to slide open). Woman finally came out to the desk (obviously had been asleep; still in jammies and droopy eyed) and I calmly handed her the faucet handle, told her about the bath heat, handed her my comment card and asked about the mess on the walkway. Her only response after a full minute of staring at me with her mouth open? "I'll tell my husband". So... clean? Not really. Basic? No, just pathetic. And I paid within $10 of what the beautiful Liberty Inn charges. Fool me once...

Room Tip: For a good room, stay somewhere else.

We are so sorry your stay at the Sea Echo was less than desirable. Since your stay, we have updated our property with new blackout-curtains, down-alternative comforters and linens. Also, we have addressed your other concerns with our managers and are confident all issues have been resolved. The shower control is a bit unconventional, but we have a small, instructional sign now posted. We would certainly appreciate your giving us another try. We are a very good value for the price!

I stayed here last year. TV's are old and wi-fi slow at times but It is hard to find a decent room at their price. I hope they continue to be around. Lobby coffee also. Alot of activities around Lincoln City.

This motel is an older motel, but it was very clean. The customer service was excellent. And the rates were extremely cheap, especially for peak season. We even had a distant ocean view. Nice place. I would definitely stay there again.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2011

As my husband and I were not sure when we would get into Lincoln City we decided to go with an inexpensive motel our 1st night. After comparing prices and looking at web-sites we chose the Sea Echo. Because of our ages (over 55) we got a discount and the cost was 55.00. The room was large with a large separate bthrm. It had a mini-fridge and microwave, was surprisingly quiet after sundown (it is on Hwy. 101) and was very clean. No in room coffee but the office opened at 7 a.m. and provided coffee/tea. VERY limited ocean view but we just needed a bed for the night....My only personal complaint is that the bed was too hard; which of course is a matter of preference.!
