So I booked this hotel through hotwire to suprise my fiance for her graduation. Since we live all the way in Salem and wanted to party in Portland, this would be a nice short drive to all the clubs, and it was rated as 3-stars by Hotwire. First off when we pulled into the driveway for the hotel, we both had the same reaction...."This CANNOT be the hotel!!!" Half of the windows were boarded up or had plastic over them, and there were only THREE cars in the parking lot. It honestly looked like one of those hotels you see in horror movies.

We went into the "lobby" asked the girl what happened to the hotel. She claims they were doing some major upgrades. Walking through the halls, all the carpets were dirty and musty smelling. As we approached our room, one of our "neighbors" was playing Tejano music LOUDLY. Now the actual room was okay, but by the time we got to it, our opinion of the hotel was already made up. At least my fiance knew she was getting drunk that night and wouldn't care what the hotel looked like when we came back that night.

Also, this is the first time I have gone to a hotel in ANY city and have had difficulty in finding a grocery store. I drove around for about 20 mins trying to find one until finally I gave up and went to a convenience store.

Not worth the savings...pay an extra $20 and stay someplace else!!

despite the criticism, we are glad we took the chance
& had a good stay: reception was cordial & competent,
any bad smells have been neutralized, plumbing, bedding
& cleanliness were definitely acceptable ... hallways still have
spill & scruff marks but otherwise seem clean > renovation/remodelling is evident - our rooms were in the
part of the building still in good shape, it seems = no real complaints ~ cosmetically, it is not up to par, but functionally,
it is absolutely serviceable & in a great location/neighborhood

Not recommended at all. Lobby and hallways reaked of disinfectant/cleanser, plaster pieces on floor from large water stains on ceiling, excessively worn and hideously stained carpeting. low, low quality. No phone book or alarm clock in room. Broken closet door. By the way, it is now called the Sherwin Inn and Suites. Makes me nauseaus thinking about my one night there. Most unpleasant hotel stay I've experienced.

Pay the extra few dollars and get a decent room anywhere else. The entire hotel, lobby, halls and room, all smelled like stale tobacco smoke. The carpets were worn, dirty and mismatched. Toilet leaked. Thick coat of dust on the bathroon fan grill. My feet stuck to the tiles inside the door to the room. The sheets were dirty and unfitted so within a few hours we were sleeping on the bare mattress. Shared a parking lot with a seedy looking bar. Rotting carpets at the end of the lower parking lot. Travelodge has disowned them and disclaims association.
