“The Perfect Family Vacation Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2013

If you are looking for the ultimate family rustic get away you could not do better than Wallowa Lake and the Wallowa National Forest in Southeastern Oregon. The is just about any kind of recreation that an outdoor enthusiastic could want at this paradise. First of all it is at the end of the road so there is only on way in and one way out. We let our kids ride their bikes all over the park. When motor home camping the camp spots are well groomed and maintained with asphalt aprons, pic-nic tables and fire pits. Deer and Elk roam freely about the park and have been known to bed down right next to your tent or motor home. The state of Oregon keeps the lake well stocked with trout and there are lots of hold overs from previous years that of very good size, plus there is excellent stream fishing in the area. There are cabins for rent and there is a lodge with rooms and excellent dining. Miles of trails and a tram that you can ride deep into the Wallowa National Forest. This is an excellent location for couples, families and friends to meet and have a great experience that will last their whole lives

“Beautiful Location at End of the Road”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

An Idaho friend suggested this park as a "half way point" between them, in Sun Valley, and us, in Seattle. What a great choice. Granted we visited in October when the nights were cold and the crowds were down. The park sits at the south end of Lake Wallowa, surrounded by spectacular scenery. It is well maintained with large RV pads and clean, modern restroom/shower facilities. The lake would be an attraction in the summer but for us, in the fall, it was just a great view. Several hiking trails head into the high country from the area so you can get exercise or just sit and enjoy the view. We were both in small travel trailers, tucked among the larger RV cousins.

“Lots of deer!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2013

Keep your dogs on six foot leashes (or extend-a-leashes that retract quickly - the deer are not afraid in the least, and easy to come up upon unexpectedly snoozing or eating.

“great family reunion camp area”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2013

The group sites are great for multiple tents and one "support vehicle" like an RV, camper, trailer with cooking facilities is allowed. There are flush toilets and showers near by that are very clean. There is water at the sight. Group A is the biggest site with lots of shade. Group B is right on the river and a bit smaller than A. Group C is the smallest site. They are all close to the regular camping area D so others that are not tent camping can camp right there too. The miniature golf course near by is one of the best I've seen...lots of fun. There are 3-4 different trails that are along side streams within walking distance of camp. Of course the lake is right there and very lovely. Really nice day picnic area. Some in our group rode the tram and said it was worth the $27 with trails you could hike on top and a view of mountains in 4 different states. The fishing person in our group found great fishing up Hurricane creek, close by. The town of Joseph was fun to spend an afternoon in and Enterprise is close enough with interesting tourist options. We spent 3 days there and could easily have spent 2 more going to the galleries and touring the Bronze factory. The campground is clean. Firewood can be purchased for $4. Deer are everywhere in the park and so tame they hardly blink at you. We would go again for sure. Large RVs would have a tight squeeze and backing into some of the campsites would be very tricky even for our 25 ft 5th wheel.
