“Very Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2013

Clean, comfortable beds. Service was very friendly. Breakfast could use some improvement, mainly the condiments that were dried up and unusable. Arrived late on a Sunday night, so did not use any amenities and cannot say anything about them but the room was good.

Great value and comfortable beds, the hotel looks new inside and out. The staff was very helpful and polite. This was one of the nicest hotels I stayed at on a 6 day trip and great overall experience. The breakfast could have been a tad better with real eggs, but the other breakfast items were on par for this price point.

John Day is a service town for the ranching and farming industry in the surrounding area so it isn't pretty but we wanted to see the Painted Hills and the excellent fossil museum so wanted to break our journey here before heading to Hell's Canyon. This hotel is good for a stop-over and was very popular while we were there.

It's just a motel room really with the walkways outside and we were, as usual, put in the room by the stairs but we were away from the road and never heard any noise from the stairs at all. We had a good sleep. The room had all you needed. Perhaps it was overpriced at $114.44 for the usual motel room but there is little choice here.

The breakfast room is small but the breakfast is more than adequate.

Good location in centre of (admittedly not very large) town, walking distance from restaurants. We got a really spacious and comfortable family suite - great value and all mod cons. Breakfast OK but nothing to write home about.

The rooms are large as it is the old style, exterior entrance motel. The bed was comfortable, linens acceptable. However, the room was not cleaned very well - bathroom was okay but sofa was dusty, baseboards dirty. The motel is located just off of the highway and the room was actually very quiet - I was surprised because I expected more road noise. We had requested a ground floor room - we when arrived at 5:30 pm we were told none were available, but when our family and friends arrived at 8:00 pm they got ground floor rooms! What's up with that? The included "breakfast" is a joke - nothing acceptable here - we went to the Squeeze In just down the road.

Arrived after a long day driving, Have always had good luck staying at BW's and they did not disappoint. Room was clean and well maintained. Right in the heart of this little town so we were able to park and walk everywhere. Nice park just a few blocks away that had a real old store that is a musuem. wanted to look inside but the place wasn't open.

Rooms were very clean and up to date. The beds were very comfortable. Nice indoor pool. Close to a good resturant/bar and pizza parlor. Resonably priced. They also provided towels to wipe down the Harleys.
