“Fabulous hotel with the best food in town.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2009

I stayed here while researching my guidebook "Oregon Townscape Walks", which has walks in 22 Oregon towns, 13 bike paths. What a charming and friendly and elegant hotel. The food was the very best. This hotel is in the center of town on Main street, which is not a busy street. Lovely walks around the downtown, through the pioneer cemetery and past fabulous homes. I had a sauna in my bathroom, high-speed internet, brass bed, lace curtains, antique furniture. They set up in the hallway a breakfast bar with fresh made scones, coffee and tea. It was delicious.

Never having been to Jacksonville before, we didn't know what to expect. It is a quiet historical town outside the hustle and bustle of Medford, I-5 and Ashland. We loved it. I could only imagine it gets pretty busy during the tourist season, and we were very happy to not be around for that! We got first rate service at the Inn, which made our brief stop in Jacksonville even better. Arriving very late in the evening, the staff was very accomodating and friendly. Cody, our server in the morning for breakfast was very welcoming and attentive. All in all, our experience here was wonderful and we will go back next time we are in the area!!! And recommend everyone to do the same! We find Ashland to be so populated with tourists, this is a great small town to get a higher quality of customer service!

Jacksonville, is an interesting town. Do not be out on the streets after 10pm as you will be harassed by the local police who have nothing better to do. The J-ville Inn has a great wine store, but not much else. The rooms are small and stuffy and the owners, Jerry and his wife are extremely rude. The restaurant is OK and the inclusion of a breakfast almost offsets the snobby atmosphere of the place. The best thing going for Jacksonville is the BRITT festival, but you would be better off staying in the neighboring town of Ashland which is much more hospitable to outside visitors.

Jacksonville Inn again exceeded our expectations even though we expected the best. Our cottage #10 was perfect, everything lovely, not one thing to improve upon.
Weather was very hot but room air conditioning system excellant. Landscaping perfectly groomed with flowers and shrubs appearing to have daily care. Restaurant in the Inn was a wonderful end to a long day with service and food excellant. In the past, have stayed at both the cottages and the Inn rooms and have never been disappointed but this time celebrated the end our 40th wedding anniversary trip which delighted my wife on our last night away from home.

Stayed three nights in one of the Jacksonville Inn’s cottages while attending several of the Peter Britt Festival concerts. The place offers all the amenities and personal attention of an old country inn, with added touches of modernity: bath and steam shower, whirlpool tub, color TV and entertainment system, air-conditioning, fireplace, refrigerator, microwave, wireless internet access, private off street parking. I was impressed by the creativity and presentation of the Inn’s Dinner House menus; and the full-service complimentary breakfasts were a real treat. The Inn’s Gift/Wine Shop’s 2000-bottle selection is something to behold. The Inn is on Jacksonville’s main street, surrounded by establishments for food, drink, artworks and crafts, and vestiges of the town’s history. During June-September, the evening Britt Festival concerts are nested in the cool hillside, only a short walk away.

We were on a road trip from Spokane, WA to Occidental, CA and wanted to spend a night between the two points. We discovered the Jacksonville Inn and what a great find! The Inn's staff anticipated our late arrival and called to let us know about where to find the keys, etc. We checked into the Honeymoon/Presidential Suite (George and Laura Bush spent the night there!) and found it to be extremely well-appointed. Everything was thought out - the bath area included a spa tub, steam shower for two, bidet, and two vanities. The gas fireplace could be viewed from the living room and bedroom and warmed the large space very nicely. They thought of everything for the suite including a laptop. The grounds of the suite are immaculate and we wished we had more time to enjoy the beauty of the surrounds and the waterfall.

We had a delicius meal at the Bistro (one of the Inn's restaurants) but one can dine in the more "formal" dining room. Our server was very attentive and the menu offerings were varied. An extensive wine list is available and is reasonably priced.

A full breakfast is served and offered many choices including daily entrees.

This was definitely a five-star experience and we would like to go back to explore more of Jacksonville.

Housed in one of gold-rush Jacksonville's early permanent structures, the Jacksonville Inn perpetuates the nostalgic romances of that era. Built in 1861, the walls of the dining area and lounge were built of locally quarried sandstone, and specks of gold are still visible in the mortar. The town is the first in America to be named a National Historic Landmark, and Jacksonville has preserved its 19th Century charm.Located in the heart of this national landmark town, The Inn is an elegant historic bed and breakfast featuring luxurious Honeymoon Cottages. Gerry Frank of the Portland Oregonian named the Inn as the "Most Romantic" lodging in Oregon. As one of Oregon's most acclaimed restaurants, it received the Medford Mail Tribune's "Readers' Choice Award" for five consecutive years as "Best Restaurant."
