Funky, cozy, authentic, romantic , affordable dog friendly, great location, friendly staff, delicious breakfast, late machine, clean...

It's so easy to just roll into some chain motel and drop $60 bucks on a generic experience. You'd be missing out on a slice of real hood river. If your going to travel, why not sample the local flavor in lodging food and hospitality.
I mean what else do you need really.

This was our second visit, and we were very pleased with comfort, service, location and price! We love the unique character of historic hotels; this one is refurbished and spotless. Very helpful staff and wonderful, extra treats and toys for our dog!

We were greeted by name, including our dogs! Every detail seemed to be attended to during our 2 night stay. Didn't eat at the on site restaurant, but the lattes in the AM were delicious. Will return as soon as possible!

We stayed here one night on our way to Boise. We wanted to be downtown so we could walk around and explore. It is perfectly located for this purpose. We were there on Halloween. They close the streets for safe trick or treating, so the streets were full of families in costumes. The hotel itself is still an old hotel. It has been upgraded, but the rooms are tiny. They are comfortable, but the heating system leaves a lot to be desired. You have little control of your own room temperature because it is a central system. They have a little bar downstairs, but they have really weird hours, so we didnt go in. The Celilo Restaurant is right across the street. We were underimpressed, but maybe that was because it was Halloween and they were quite busy. They have no parking, so you have to park on the street. They have a one car loadidng zone in front, but good luck finding it empty!

We live in Laguna Beach, and enjoy a home in the Oregon Wine Country. This was our first venture into Hood River. We arrived almost 2 hours prior to check-in. My daughter's room was ready immediately and we were called within 20 minutes for our room. I have traveled Europe extensively and found this lovely jewel overlooking Columbia River very similar to many hotels in Europe. The lobby offers a lovely fireplace and comfortable furniture to lounge after a long day.
We were in town for the Polar Express with our grandchildren. The hotel added to the ambiance of the experience. We plan to return again....sans grandchildren :) I am writing this from our room and look forward to the breakfast in the morning.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our room 317...from the bed you could see the river. We like the sounds of the train. Th...

This is a fun escape with extremely limited parking. If you are into a memorable step back to a time when life moved at a different pace this hotel will satisfy. I would not plan a vacation around this hotel but for an escape it is worth the price of admission.

Room Tip: Rooms on the North side have a river view but lots of train noise. Rooms on the south side are quiet...

We stayed here 3 nights. Very convenient to the downtown area. Could walk almost anywhere in the downtown. Parking is a little inconvenient in that to park on the streets adjoining the hotel you need to purchase either a 1/2 day or whole day pass, $5.00. Then you can leave & come back to park wherever you wish in the downtown area, except right in front of the hotel. The rooms were quite unique - some were very small, and others were quite spacious. There were 4 couples in our party so we had opportunity to see other rooms. We had a small suite, which included the bedroom, bathroom & a small kitchen in which you could do light cooking if you were staying for a longer period of time. The only reason I did not give this review a 5 was because there was only one small bed lamp in the bedroom (other than the ceiling light) so it was very difficult to read in the bedroom, and there was only 2 kitchen chairs in the kitchen so there was no room to sit & read there either. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and each day you receive a $5.00 complimentary ticket per person for your breakfast. The rooms were clean & the staff was very friendly.

Room Tip: Corner rooms seems to be larger. I would also request a suite. We were in an inside room so we did...
