“Perfect location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012

We had only a short time and wanted to find a motel close to the Columbia River Gorge and this hotel was perfect. It is right off off I-84, right on the way to all the falls and the beautiful views. The area around it was nice and quiet. The check-in was flaw-less - my husband couldn't believe how easy it was. The room was spotless and spacious. The breakfast was very good, the evening cookies a treat too and having coffee at any time was great.
A hint is to call ahead - as we got a very good rate, and it was during the August tourist season!

My family and I stayed here during an out of town adventure, for one night.
We needed a hotel, checked out tripadvisor to see where was our best bet, and this came up as #1. We weren't steered wrong, per say, but I feel for the $130 total spent, we should have had a 'nicer' hotel...more upscale. (I guess you have to understand the last hotel we stayed at was the Oxford Inn & Suites, Boise, and it was one of the nicest hotels I've ever stayed in, for around the same price.)
Super easy to find, super easy check in, and that's pretty much how the night stay went. Easy.
The hotel itself is fine. Nothing spectacular. Nothing shouting, "STAY HERE!" or even "COME BACK!" The rooms are sizeable. The furniture (armoire, tables, etc) are kind of outdated and a little odd. Bathrooms are big enough and pretty updated, which surprised me after seeing the odd furniture.
Sleep quality was great though, comfortable, and most of all QUIET, even on a Saturday night. So that was a MAJOR + in my book. If you like quiet, like most people do, this is your place.
Breakfast was a treat and would've cost my little family at least $40 for the food we consumed, so the price of the room probably evens itself out with the breakfast included. Loved the oatmeal bar (raisins, almonds, brown sugar). Kids loved the danishes, muffins, waffle making bar, cereals, eggs, and ham.
So, in short, this hotel is #1 for a couple of reasons- location, staff, quietness, and breakfast. But you won't have much upscale luxuries.

This Hampton Inn is the nicest we have stayed at. It is exceptionally clean (the staff is constantly tidying up). All day & night there is coffee, tea & soda for arriving guests. My daughter loved the warm cookies at night It has a very nice business & lounge area across from dining area. The staff is friendly and attentive to guests needs. Breakfast was great... eggs, waffle maker assorted fruits breads etc. The hotel has a well kept indoor pool & hot tub with water toys for the kids. The location is right off the freeway & close to Portland, the Columbia River & the airport.(we never heard planes flying in). As in many areas of Oregon this time of year there were blackberry patches everywhere with ripe sweet blackberries Rooms were very clean with refrigs & microwaves. the price here was lower than average for a Hampton ( $70-night) and the staff here is all committed to the customers having a pleasant stay. we would highly recommend this location.

Conveniently located on the eastern side of Portland, near the airport. Easy access to the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood region. Rooms are nice and very clean. We had 2 problems, both of which were resolved to our satisfaction. The first was that the king sized bed was made up with a queen size top sheet. Left a note for housekeeping and it was corrected the next day. The second, more serious problem happened on the second night (a Saturday). When we returned to our room after hiking in 90 degree weather all day, we discovered that our air conditioner was broken. There were no other rooms available The manager called their maintenance man and he came out and replaced the entire unit at 9 pm. Great management team makes a great hotel.

Thank you so much for taking the time to post a review of your stay at the Hampton Inn Portland East location. I apologize for the problems you encountered during your stay with us. Having your air conditioner replaced so late at night is not what you want to experience when staying at a hotel, especially on a very hot day. Thank you for being so patient and gracious. It was a pleasure having you stay with us while you were in Portland.

We stayed here for one night. The employee working the evening shift when we checked in was very friendly and helpful. The warm cookies were a nice touch. The free breakfast was very good. There were waffles, eggs, fruit, yogurt, cereals, juice, etc. The room was clean and comfortable.

This property is east of Portland and the immediate neighborhood is nothing great. However, the hotel provides close access to many of Portland's great outdoor activities around Columbia River and Mt. Hood. The room I had was quite spacious and clean like most Hampton Inns. Staff were friendly and always cheerful even when I arrived at 11pm. Breakfast area was a bit small, but workable.

At arrival the lady at the frontdesk gave us a very warm welcome, a fast checkin, delicious cookies and some advice about good restaurants in the neighbourhood. Excellent service!
The hotel is located at a quiet location and we found that to be very nice. The hotel is very clean, has free wifi and good breakfast with lots of variety, fresh fruit, cereal etc. and they change the hot items everyday, very nice!
The room is somewhat outdated but all is clean, nice and comfortable, housekeeping does a very good job here! All staffmembers were very friendly and helpfull!
We stayed here for 4 nights and it was a pleasure!
