“Relaxing by The River”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2011

I am a business traveler that visits Southern Oregon on a regular basis. The Weasku Inn allows me to relax after working. Sitting on the deck drinking a glass of wine with laptop in hand somehow does not seem like working. The rooms are comfortable and the beds are better than the chain companies. The people that work here go out of their way to help you find what you need. I recently forgot a bag of dirty clothes and was called before I got out of town.

Lovely, fully-updated historic lodge with beautiful grounds and views of the Rogue River. We stayed in cabin #18, which had a great bed, deck, nice bathroom. Compared to most B&B's, breakfast is not a big production, but rather more like what you would get at a Holiday Inn Express (self-make waffles, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, tea). Very helpful and friendly staff; nice wine in the afternoons, good dinner recommendations, great places to sit and read or write (both indoors and outdoors).

This place must have been wonderful before the invention of the automobile and the construction of Interstate 5. I-5 is on the other side of the river, so the rooms close to the river are also close to road noise. Rooms in the lodge are farther from I-5, but closer to the Rogue River Road, which is also somewhat noisy. The windows of our cabin were very good, so with the windows closed, there was no problem with road noise, and we slept very well. But sitting on the deck or on the lovely Adirondack chairs, you are always aware of the road noises.

So if you are looking for a place to sit in peace and quiet with only the noise of the river and the wind in the trees, this isn't it.

But if you are looking for top-quality lodging in Grants Pass, this is a great choice. I would certainly stay there again.

I didn't have the priviledge of staying here this time, as it was more then I could spend on this trip, but we stopped by and the people there were the nicest you would want to find. The lady at the desk let us see all the rooms in the lodge, and then told us to look around and walk the grounds if we wanted.

Of course we wanted to . . . . it was darling. The rooms upstairs were perfect in everyway. If you want a special place to stay in the area, you have to check this one out. Darling darling darling, in everyway. Plus wonderful people working there.

Our first impression was positive. Helpful, courteous staff...and the cabin was nice.
The pictures online made it appear the river was within view, but it was actually over a hundred yards away behind an irrigation canal and riparian area out of sight from the room.
We could have accepted the distance from the Rogue--but the smell from the overflowing septic tank each evening was completely overwhelming. We could not even sit outside in the evenings due to the stench. We mentioned it to the desk attendant the first night, but heard nothing back.
Upon checkout we mentioned it again, and the maintenance man was brought in. He mentioned that the tank needed to be pumped--and that it would be done soon. Too late for us though. At nearly $350.00 per night I expected just a little more...
It is our hope they used our money to pump the tanks for the sake of the next travelers.
Sincerely,
Charles Prince

Thank you, for taking the time to let us know about your experience here at the Weasku.

Yes, unfortunately during your stay we experienced a technical problem with a septic system. At the time the problem was not readily apparent, as it was underground and not visible. When you brought it to our attention our theory was that the septic tank was full and “venting” an odor. And while we maintain a regular schedule of pumping our tanks we immediately scheduled another pumping to address the odor that you mention. During this action we discovered that our theory was incorrect. The true problem was a different issue, which was underground and not visible. We have addressed the problem and the odor is gone. I apologize that our communication with you was not what it could or maybe should have been.

We believe that the measure of excellent customer service is not how well it is provided under normal circumstances but how well we responded in times like these. I am truly sorry that our response was lacking in your opinion. I would like to encourage you to contact me directly so that we may discuss how we might be able to address our shortcomings with your experience.

Thank you again for your feedback.

This lodge is a masterpiece with its log cabin style and gigantic rock fireplace in the lodge to its riverfront cabins, you will be enamored with your experience. If you travel often for work ask for their corporate or country club rate.

The staff is first class and very friendly. There is wine available each evening in the lodge and they carry wine stock if you are looking for a chilled bottle to enjoy in your room or by the river. Every morning breakfast is served. I highly recommend requesting the rasberry white chocolate scones. They are divine!

The rooms have always been clean and well stocked. The style is log cabin rustic. I have stayed here more about a dozen times in the last 2 years. I love Room # 1 with the jacuzzi hot tub and the A frame cabin on the river. I have stayed in all of the lodge rooms at some point. If traveling for work, be sure to ask for a room that has a writing table for computer work, etc. The beds are covered with comforters and quilts and have wonderfully soft cotton sheets. It is a great night's sleep.

There is a beautiful path along the river that is great for running or just a casual stroll. The staff will move adirondack chairs down to the river if you want to sit riverside for a while. Otherwise you can enjoy them on the back lawn which also offers terrific forest views.

This lodge is located outside of town. It is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Grants Pass and the primary restaurant locations. It is about 25 minutes north of Medford and 35 to 40 minutes north of Ashland on the 5 Freeway.

Although I have not used the service, I believe the staff will arrange in room spa services (massages, etc) for you as well. Additionally, this lodge is close to many outdoor activities including river rafting, fishing, shopping, dining, and more. Just keep in mind that nothing is really in walking distance, but it is worth it for the comforts and setting.

Recently we traveled to Central Oregon and needed lodging for our way up. We happened to look on the internet for "fun places to stay" in Grants Pass. How lucky we were to find this place! It was truly a treat for our family to stay here. You really wouldn't know from the sign on the road how wonderful the place is, but don't let that stop you. We stayed in a queen river cabin so that we could accommodate our kids with a pull out sleeper. The cabin was quite roomy, clean and well decorated with beautiful scenery surrounding it. The staff was very pleasant and eager to please, which they did. Every staff member who we came in contact with made sure we were happy and if we needed anything it was readily taken care of.
I would highly recommend this cozy in for a family stay, romantic getaway, or whatever might bring you to the area!

If you are looking for a beautiful place to retreat in Oregon, the Weasku Inn in Grants Pass is the place! My husband and two teenage daughters and I chose to stay there on the return road trip from Portland back home to San Diego based on the TripAdvisor reviews and pictures. We have found in the past some times places can be over rated, so we were all so wonderfully surprised to find this treasure to be even more than we expected! We stayed two nights in a darling cabin over looking the river with our own private back patio. The cabin, grounds, and lodge were immaculate. The surroundings were pristine, green with beautiful trees, and very tranquil, so much so that we chose to play cards on the lodge deck overlooking the grounds over going any where else. The special touches from warm cookies each evening and a fabulous light breakfast with options of freshly baked scones and cinnamon rolls just made the trip all the more sweet. To top it all off, the staff was very friendly and welcoming and especially, Allison, who made us feel at home from the moment we drove in late our first evening. Plus she recommended a must experience old fashion little soda fountain with the best ice cream and old fashion sodas in historic downtown called the Grant's Pass Pharmacy that we all just loved.
In closing, on our next road trip to Portland, we will eagerly look forward to planning a couple of days retreat at the Wesaku Inn! Be sure and stay here, you'll be so glad you did!
