“First class property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

Collins Lake Resort is a bit of a sprawling property and I'd guess with varying levels of luxury. We were in South Lodge room 303. The building and our room were architecturally interwoven with a huge emphasis on wood, leather, and just general plushness. The pictures on the Tripadvisor website are accurate. Mt Hood loomed over the deck holding the barbecue. Towels and bedding were of high quality, marble counters, fully furnished kitchen and the rooms were quite large. The only negatives were poor cable reception on the flatscreen and a duel with the room thermostat that was resolved by "Carter", the kind of guy every resort should have and never does. He was overwhelmingly friendly, helpful, and did a check back a few hours later to make sure everything was in good order. Government
Camp proper ( a short walk away) is a smallish village largely given over to snow sports although less than a mile away there is an amusement park with bungee jumping, wheeled bobsleds and the like. This is a good place to stay for day trips to local lakes, Timberline Lodge, and a zillion different hiking trails. Note to light sleepers, our room "backed onto" highway 26 with all of the attendant truck traffic, you won't sleep if you open the windows. Very quiet with the windows shut.
