“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2013 via mobile

Our daughter was in a ski camp at the Timberline lodge. We were ideally located (less than 10 min away) by staying at the best western. The staff was courteous and helpful. Our first day we were welcomed with fresh baked cookies and chips and salsa for snack. We didn't make any of the other snack days, but it is apparently a regular thing! There is also a nice bowl of fruit, all night hot drinks, and if you forget your bottle opener- the lobby desk has one! The beds are comfortable and have 4 fluffy pillows. There is no air conditioner in the room, but there isn't a huge need for one. We enjoyed sleeping with the window open and the ceiling fan on. One night we actually needed the heater! We did ask for a fan - when we saw that there was no AC - and the front desk didn't have any to loan. Like I said, we didn't need it, but were surprised that there wasn't any on loan. We were pleasantly surprised to find a wax room, complete with vices and irons, to wax our daughters skis. They also have ski lockers - a lot. The breakfast is from 6-10 and it is a good starter. Eggs, pancakes, French toast, cereals - hot and cold, sausage, bagels, pastries, coffee, tea, juices, milk, bacon, yogurt, hot chocolate, and a cappuccino machine (tastes like hot chocolate). All selections are not out at the same time. They switch up the dishes so you are not stuck eating the same thing every day.

We will likely bring our daughter back to summer ski camp. If we do, we will stay here again!

Hello,

We are happy your stay was enjoyable. We do offer a nice appetizer everyday in our lobby. We try to make our guest’s feel at home when staying with us. We do not have any fans available. However, we have ceiling fans and two exhaust fans in the room. The exhaust fans do a wonderful job of pulling the cooler outside air into the room.

Thank you,

I stayed three nights last week (June 9th thru the 12th). The hotel was rather empty and quiet. This was my first time in the area but I felt I made a great choice of a place to stay. The cost per night was reasonable and my room had a full kitchen, living room and seperate bedroom. There is no air conditioning, but I don't really see why you would need it. The air temp at night dropped to the 40s and this is June. As far as the traffic; I didn't really hear it. I live in the city so I hear not just cars; I hear trains all the time, so I tend to block that out. I never sleep well on vacation anyway no matter how loud or quiet a room can be. I wouldn't let the traffic reviews scare you away. Your not staying a very populated area by any means.

I used the laundry and jacuzzi once. All was fine/clean.

The welcome was great, the breakfast was great, the dinner snack was great, the warm cookies were great. The walk up to government camp was great, the short drive to the more expensive lodge on Mt. Hood is only minutes. You get a great stay for a reasonable cost.

I happened to stay above the oven they bake the cookies in. If I can make a complaint it would be that I wanted to eat those cookies. =)

Hope this helps for all of you folks that go to visit such an amazing area.

Room Tip: if your nervous about noise, ask to be away from the main road.

Hello,

We are greatly please your first stay in our area was enjoyable. We are so happy you enjoyed our fresh baked cookies. The temperatures drop significantly at night time during the summer as well. It makes for very pleasant sleeping conditions.

I stayed in this hotel on a first night of a long road trip. The setting for this hotel is stupendous right in the mountains and easily found on the highway. The rooms were quite pleasant with one restaurant close by. What should be noted is the location is not so central in relation to the town of Government Camp and the walk is probably 15-20 minutes; this is OK in good weather but this will be a challenge during the winter. In terms of rates, I won't have much complaint but considering my WiFi didn't work during my stay, I think my judgement of this matter might be coloured on this matter. Overall, nothing beats this Best Western for being in one of the most scenic regions in the United States.

Reasonably priced and conveniently located next door to a nice little restaurant (local beers, hamburgers, grilled chicken, salads) with an easy walk to Govy. Spacious rooms with a couch, chairs, microwave, counter space, newer TV, comfortable beds. Ask for a room facing the creek (and away from the highway) and you might even be able to see Mount Hood. Loved listening to the sounds of water running. Free breakfast, free movies, free parking, friendly staff, clean rooms, very nice lobby area, covered parking. It's all true. Will definitely come back again.

On the positives, good location, very clean and very good breakfast with lots of variety. A few drawbacks. Many talk about piece and quiet. Not totally the case. Sits at the junction of route 26 and main entrance to govt camp. Our room was VERY traffic filled. Asked for quiet location but this was the only room available. As well, I have seen very few rooms without some form of climate control. This was one. Leave the window open for cool air(traffic) vs. stifle.

So....be forewarned the good with the bad. Overall recommend but ear plugs an asset.

Room Tip: Ensure non traffic side!

Hello,

Thank you for your positive feedback on our breakfast and location! We our terribly sorry your room was a little too loud with the traffic noise. Normally the traffic is at a minimum in the evening hours. We only offer climate control in the form of heating. It is normally quite mild in our location. We have nice exhaust fans in the rooms that can be used for ventilation. We hope to see you again soon!

A comfortable inn near the mountain...large, clean rooms; breakfast in the morning, cookies and a hot dish in the evening. Karen was helpful in changing reservations several times and was a welcoming presence at the inn. She takes care of business efficiently, with kindness. Thank you.

Room Tip: Hot tub, no pool; excellent food at the grill next door.

Me and my family stayed here for 2 nights. We enjoyed our stay. The staff was very helpful. Room was clean and very quiet. Also there was a little waterfall by our window which made it very soothing while sleeping. Finding the way into the hotel was a little tricky, they were paving the lot. The breakfast was impressive, alot of choices. I would come back and stay here. The other thing "wrong" with the hotel was, NO AC(in whole hotel) or extra fans. Theres is a ceiling fan, but not above the beds and I just it was just the part of the hotel we were in, but it was EXTREMELY hot.

Dear Michelle,

We are very please you enjoyed your recent stay with us and all of our amenities! We apologize for the detours around our parking lot. We have recently made many improvements to our property. We understand your concern’s about the heat. We did have an unusually hot week. The weather is normally very mild on the mountain eliminating the need for air conditioning in our region. We cannot wait to see you again.
