“Lovely room in the center of town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2009

This hotel has two different choices. The old motel (which is much cheaper) and a new building. I stayed in the newly built building and it was great. The room is large and well laid out with a small fridge and microwave. It is all in the details: granite counter tops, king size bed, leather headboard and down comfortable. Prices are reasonable and if you go in the off season a phone call to the front desk might get you a discount. It is also quiet, there were people staying above us but I never heard them.

From 101 it looks like just another in the line of motels in Gold Beach. But seriously, the King of Jordan stayed here, and that was recently. Now I can see why!

Over the hump, out of sight from 101 are the newest, and without question the NICEST motel rooms I've enjoyed along the Southern Oregon coast, ever. That's 24 years of visits. There are nice enough places nearby, but they all have the pretty dated, 'beach hotel' feeling. THESE rooms (known as the 'new units') have modern furniture, artwork, nice paint, granite counters, expensive linens and an overall good vibe.

The ocean view from the upstairs units is awesome; downstairs it's still good, but with more of the dunes in front. Still not a bad thing.

Staff was absolutely outstanding, and we got the feeling everyone who works here really DOES care about the guest!

Bottom line: I'll be back, and hopefully soon!

We chose Pacific Reef on the basis of TripAdvisor reviews are we were very pleased. Excellent value for money. The two story facility is located on the main coast highway, 101, but the rooms face the ocean several hundred yards distant across low scrub and beach, and are completely detached from bustle. We chose a top floor corner room for maximum view and quiet. It had every comfort and amenity, was spacious, very clean and luxurious, and a broad unobstructed ocean view. The staff could not have been more accommodating. At $89 the price was terrific. Recommended without reservation, at least in the off season when we visited. Oobtain a $20 coupon for the fine Spinner’s restaurant nearby, if available.

Agree with previous positive reviews! We stayed in 220 and enjoyed a great view of the ocean. Room was nicely appointed with updated amenities. And while in Gold Beach, don't miss Anna's by the sea -- delicious food at a tiny little family-run wine bistro that's a couple of minutes away.

Reception staff respectful, friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
The room : beach front, beach access, clean, beautiful furniture, great bed with down-type comfortor, granite-type counters in bathroom and kitchen area, What really got us was : the glass coffee cups and glass water glasses in bathroom! My mother (88 yr old) commented "this is a classy place!" For us it is the simple things in life that make the difference and in this place it was the wonderful staff and the real glass cups.
We will return!
Would like to see fresh fruit offered as part of continental bkfst.

I travel from the Wine Country a lot, as I have a daughter in Washington State. Taking 101 is the best way to go. I have discovered a resort that has amazed me. I found the Pacific Reef on line and stayed alone my last trip. I stayed in room 221 and it was amazing (I have the same $50 shower curtain in my guest bath) The room, the view, the peace it brought me was beyond what I expected. The front desk agent was the best!....Needless to say, I stayed again in room 221 on my trip home as well!
