Stayed at Salishan Lodge for a weekend. Staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was clean, I loved the gas fireplace and balcony with rocking chairs (we didn't use them, the weather was stormy) Our view overlooked the golf course, making it quiet and serene. The pool and exercise rooms were really nice. They have a game room w/ couches flat screens and xbox and PS2. Rooms are spread out in different buildings but the walkways are covered. The Suites are beautiful and very lodgy feeling w/ fireplaces in both bedrooms and a wood fireplace in main room. We didn't order room service or eat at any of the resturants(they looked quite spendy). I would love to go back in summer when weather is nice and can get out and explore.(huge grounds)

I read about this property in a book named 1000 Places to See Before You DIe. This one, I could have done without. I was just overall disappointed with the room, to start with. It felt much more like an older cabin than a swanky lodge. The doors are all metal doors with harsh door knobs, etc. The door to the bathroom was exactly like the door in the bathroom of my dorm room 15 years ago. Ugh. Little stuff has just been overlooked - like the toilet paper holder. It probably matches toilet papers in gas station restrooms. The carpet in our room was (I think) indoor/outdoor carpet. It is carpet you don't feel comfortable walking on barefooted. More like a cabin in the woods. Where you always wear shoes everywhere you go. The TV was an older TV, which is fine but didn't match the way the Salishan describes itself. Also, the Salishan says they have iPod compatible clock radios in every room. Well our room had a $3 clock radio from walmart. I called the front desk - they said someone must have forgotten to put one in there. They could bring me one if I wanted. And I asked why there was only 1 robe when 2 people were staying in the room. They said, "that's our policy. the 2nd robe is by request only.". Little stuff. Nothing huge and horrible. Just the little stuff that makes a stay go from "adequate" or "amazing". The Salishan is a perfectly OK place to stay. But we were looking for an experience. Not an OK place to stay. We won't be back.

Beautiful resort located between the ocean and the mountains which makes the stay very tranquil. Don't expect 5* service as it is more of a resort/lodge and there are no valets, doormen, or any of those luxuries. You drive up this very long path up to where the main lodge is and park in the designated areas. You go into the lobby to check-in and receive directions to your room than get back into your car and drive to different areas around the resort depending on what room type you purchased and park in the designated parking lots. If you love to hike or jog than you will love this place as it has very easy trails to the ocean or into the woods. They do have restaurants, bars, and room service that are all very tasty. I think they are famous for their spas but I didn't get a chance to try them. For the price of the rooms I did expect more but I still enjoyed my stay very much and loved my room with view of the forest and the waters. Great for a romantic getaway.

I am a Senior Sales Executive with a high tech firm in Beaverton, Oregon. Since 1986, I have used Salashan for Corporate Meetings for our company and for team building with our suppliers. I have used Salashan with 4 different companies where I was the Senior Sales Executive. We enjoyed the incredible meeting rooms, the food, and the golf course. At night we went to the "Attic Bar" and had a great time with Stan the bartender(deceased), , and also Vicky, the best bar waitress we have ever encountered, she was like family to us, and she is a great tap dancer, doing her tap dance for all of us on the Salashan stage. On our last visit we discovered that Vicky was let go with no explanation. We will not return, and will tell everyone in the Software Association of Oregon to not use Salashan for meetings as well as 350 Twitter Sales Managers in Portland to not use Salashan for meetings. My guess is that the Meeting Revenues are about to decline big time. Vicky was a dedicated employee at Salashan for over 35 years, and for the manager to let her go to hire a person with no experience at Salashan is very disapointing. It may cause Salashan to go out of business since this bad economy is expected to continue for another 2 years. All our busines now is going to a beach hotel at Agate beach.

Spa and resort indicates high end. The location is good, the rooms are large and the beds are comfortable.
But the cleanliness was below a motel. At the entrance of the room, there was a cigarette butt in the newspaper container. Then the glass windows to the deck/balcony were filthy, finger marks, dust... could not see the sunset through them. So walked out to the deck to find more cigarette butts in a pepsi can.
Also, only one trash can and no recycling bins.
Overpriced for a filthy place and by the way, they gave us chocolates for complaining about basic cleanliness.
