I booked a room online for a special event. I've been calling for days and unable to reach a reservation specialist or anyone who answers a phone there. Twice I've been placed on hold and then hung up on. In addition all the amenities listed on their site are not available and no guarantees or compensation is given when they don't deliver. I can't even reach someone to cancel and get a refund. Down the street there are two fabulous hotels with staff that are reachable and amenities they do provide as promised and don't have hidden charges.

The Salishan Resort is one of my favorite places in the world. I attend a conference there each spring and I am always amazed at just how delightful this place is. Every room is very large with fireplace, microwave, fridge, and sitting porch with rocking chairs. Each room has a private carport so you can get into and out of the car without getting wet if it is raining. The rooms are in 4-8 room building around the facility. All are connected by rustic covered walkways. The landscaping is lush with plenty of quiet places to sit and enjoy nature. There is a nice bar and two excellent restaurants. The lobby is huge with plenty of seating for group conversations. The exercise room with 25 yard lap pool, whirlpool, and a large selection of exercise equipment is a great place for a workout. There is also a video game room for the kids. Mini golf is free and winds around the driving range for the full golf course. All-in-all, you will never find a better place to go for a getaway.

Room Tip: Every room is great, but get a second floor room on the North side to have a view of the bay.

A very nice resort on the Oregon coast - not just a gold resort. Property consists of multiple small buildings all connected with covered walk ways. Rooms are very large and nicely appointed, modern and clean, most have nice views of either golf course or view out over the bay. Rooms have seating area as well as large king bed and fireplace and if weather permits a nice balcony too. There is a short walk along a nice nature natural to the private beach and for those who like to run some awesome beach and road running along the Spit. Also has a SPA and fitness center with a 20M pool - only niggle while I was there - pool was too hot was like swimming in hot tub

The room was very comfortable. Great view, nicely decorated, very clean. We spent the majority of our time on the private beach. In four days, we saw one other person there. We had a wonderful vacation and look forward to returning.

Room Tip: The Bay view rooms are wonderful. They have 2 rocking chairs and a small table. Perfect for morning...

Good day, Mike I and thank you for such nice comments and being our guest. I have to agree, the private beach is the ideal spot to get-a-way from it all. We look forward to having you back with us one day soon.

We just returned from a 4 day Salishan, and I must say that is was perfect. I am not sure why so many negative reviews are reported about this resort. I have been staying here for 40 years and found it to be clean, friendly and simply beautiful! Our room had a fantastic view of the golf course and our room was clean and functional. Perhaps the furnishings are older, but they are in great shape and is the "northwest" style that has made Salishan special.
Front desk people were friendly and helpful. Food in the dining room was great. The surrounding areas were well kept. There are many hiking trails around Salishan and they were all well maintained.
I understand Salishan has been bought by new owners that live back east. I think they are busy working on making salishan more "modern", although the resort is great just the way it is!

TAHOEAL, what a nice review. You are correct on all counts and the 'new' look will channel what John Gray created, reflecting the refined and upscale comfort of the Pacific Northwest. We look forward to having you back with us when the make-over is complete. Thank you for being our guest.

Have been coming to Salishan for YEARS and have watched it just go downhill; it is really sad to have to write this. Was there for a few nights mid-April and just could not believe how awful it had gotten. The lobby still has the wood logs burning, and there are displays showing swatches of all the new carpets, fabrics, etc that will be in the new rooms after the renovation (? but no info about when renovation starts). But in the interim, you would think that the management and staff would be doing their best to keep up the common areas...but just the opposite was true. The pool / fitness area was just FILTHY! Hundreds of dirty towels scattered all over including the bathrooms; toilets looked like they hadn't been flushed for 2 days, locks on lockers didn't work, hair and gross stuff all over the locker rooms, no clean towels. The pool temperature seemed like it was over 90 degrees, when 82-84 is normal. There was steam coming off the indoor pool like a hot tub and it made swimming just not enjoyable; the heat in the room had to have come from this hot water; the windows and glass door were dripping in condensation. There was sand and dirt in the pool that wasn't vacuumed away in the 3 days we tried to swim; the tiles along the pool water line looked like they hadn't been scrubbed to get rid of the scum for years. Probably the grossest thing was that the wood wall behind the deep end of the pool was dark and wet -- it had to be mildewed and probably has mold growing from all the damp heat in there...no lights worked at the deep end of the pool which made it even weirder in there. One person also swimming complained about the high temperature of the water but said that some local member liked it really hot and he was a real complainer so the manager keeps it hot for him. Wow, is this really a hotel / resort that cares about it's customers? doesn't seem like it. The fitness room was also dirty and hot in there and the carpet smelled of sweat; didn't look like anyone came in there to clean either. You used to be able to work out or swim 24 hours but now you can't work out before 6:30am...(travelers are on different time zones, management!!! we are from the east coast and get up earlier and want to get going)...what's up with this?
Our room had the same furniture we have seen for years and carpet was worn, tired, etc. No wonder they are offering Groupon deals but that really diminishes any luxury reputation; they should just shut down and do the renovation quicker or else keep up the rest of the resort amenities while renovating. Everything was just so pathetic that we didn't eat there; with the abundance of seafood, vegetables, etc you would think their food would be a real draw but apparently not. Next time we come back to the northwest we will stop by and see if any real changes are made before we reserve a room. Looks like there were TONs of empty rooms and we totally understand why. Management and owners -- this starts at the TOP! start overseeing what needs to be done instead of writing tripadvisor comments that 'you will consult with housekeeping'. So sad to see this formerly wonderful property just go down the toilet, literally. Can't understand why a new owner would buy this and not monitor it better.

On April 21 and 22 2015 we stayed at Salishan Spa and Golf Resort in a "Traditional King" room. The carpets were dirty, all of the wall plugs would not hold a plug for charging a computer or cell phone, and the toilets were much lower than is now approved. In the lodge, the men's restroom was so dark that it would be impossible to properly clean it because it is so dark. The rooms should have been updated 30 years ago. The front desk was unable to locate our reservation by name and after check in was not able to locate our room by room number when we had comments. We booked as a special get away but I do not think that there was anything "SPECIAL" any longer about Salishan Spa and Golf Resort. The cost was as stated but the value should have been $100 less per night because that is what was presented.

Room Tip: CAUTION - 50% of the dinning sites in this resort are CLOSED and all of the plugs in the rooms will...

Thank you, David6460, for letting us know about your Resort Experience. Engineering has been dispatched to correct the outlet issues. I do want to let you know that with our new ownership group and after 4-months of planning, we are moving forward with a full guestroom renovation; decks, railings and everything in the the guestrooms, floor to ceiling. We hope to have you back with us later this year to see how we have returned Salishan to it's full glory.
