Lance R, thank you for the glowing comments about the Resort. It appears that you have a great distance to travel, but we hope you'll be back mid-year or later to see the unveiling of the 'new' iconic Salishan. We're grateful for your business and being a neighbor. Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Globus arranged our stay here as part of a tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here with included breakfast. The room was very nice with a flat screen TV and fireplace. We had a small balcony looking out to the woods. We had dinner at the Attic Lounge and the service and food was excellent. We particularly enjoyed the Avocado stuffed with Fresh Dungeness Crab Salad and accompanied with Baby Green Salad. We enjoyed an afternoon walk down to the beach and the shopping area. Unfortunately many of the stores were now vacant. We had an excellent breakfast in the Sun Room.

Room Tip: They have many different views: bay, woods, and golf course.

We are pleased that you stayed with us, Arvid O. We hope that you found the Oregon coast as alluring as we do; rugged, dramatic and convivial accommodations for rest and relaxation. Salishan is known for its wonderfully fresh seafood and over-call vibe. We are grateful that we have the opportunity to host your group and look forward to having you and them back in our care. Happy New Year!

My husband and I spent a couple of nights at Salishan in Dec. It is in a beautiful setting but is in need of a facelift. Apparently it is under new management and we did meet the new marketing director who seems very committed in making a positive transformation in the place.
The positives:
As I said, a beautiful setting. You are on the golf course and most of the trees are older and big.
Our room was a fairly good size with a gas fireplace and out side deck. Nice view.
Lots of trails for walking.
Interesting art is scattered over the property.
Beautiful lobby and nice bar.
Downsides:
Our room was dark and dated. The furniture needs replacing and the carpet seemed old. There was a musty smell so we opened the door at night. The walls also seemed thin.
We had some snacks and drinks at the bar. An expanded menu might be nice.
The menu at the cafe could use updating. The dining room was closed when we were there.
There could be better communication within the staff but all were very nice and probably trying to adjust to new management.
I wouldn't tell people not to stay there but I would not pay full price. I would give it another go but not for awhile. They are going to start some remodeling so hopefully it can be brought back to what it once was.

OregonLorraine, thank you for your review. You are correct, we will be updating the entire property soon with a BIG focus on the accommodations, public space and all of our outlets, including the menu's. I hope you'll have the opportunity to experience the new and again iconic salishan in the future. We appreciate your comments and I have sent them along to our Director of Operations.

A warm & inviting place to get away to. Only disappointment is it's mostly catered to golfers. There are no rooms "on the beach" as it's on the wrong side of Hiway 101, they either face the woods or a fairway/putting green. Staff was friendly although a bit inexperienced. Food was good in cafeteria, although we chose not to eat in main dining which seemed a bit overpriced. The upstairs bar is very nice on a cold evening, but no big screen to watch a game....better off in your room. Very nice spa.

Historic resort overlooks Siletz Bay and the ocean beyond. Rooms are cozy and staff is wonderfully accommodating. Huge indoor heated pool and hot tub in separate room are fabulous during winter months at the beach (summer too). This is a spot where you can stroll the beach without seeing another person, just harbor seals and whales, oh, and bald eagles on the bay. Nice bay for kayaking through the wildlife refuge also.
Faaabulous spa - do not miss!

Room Tip: It seems all of the rooms are the same but the bay view is lovely

Well, chiantiface2013, it sounds like you've discovered the true essence of Salishan. Thank you for the kind review. If you've not had the opportunity, next time discover our tennis pavilion and idyllic spa, nestled on the bay. Thank you for your partnership. Happy holidays!

My family and I have visited the Salishan Resort on the Oregon coast several times since we moved to Oregon last year. On our last visit in July 2014 we brought friends from out of town and found that the hotel had recently changed management companies. The grounds were not maintained. The service had taken a drastic turn for the worse due to the fact that they had let most of their restaurant staff go and had not yet rehired additional staff. The employees were trying their best to help but were clearly tired as most were pulling double shifts. Even though the web site showed that their casual restaurant The Sun Room was open for dinner, it was not. That left only the upscale Dining Room restaurant for us to dine in with our young children, which was not an appealing option for us. We asked about a take out order and were told that we would have to pay the room service fees to do so. I would have been willing to give the Salishan another try if the management bothered to take the time to respond to the two letters I sent and phone calls I made pointing out our poor experience. I did reach a helpful employee at the front desk who was surprised that I had received no response and assured me that her management would get in touch with me but they never did. That was two months ago. This tells me that the Salishan management does not care about their clients. I will not return.

Dear Cathie G, July was indeed a huge transition month at the iconic Salishan and we are deeply saddened about your stay. I would like to speak to you if I might to share some insights to your comments and have you and your family back in my care one day. I am at the hotel and can be reached at 541-763-3695. We are committed to a happy resolve!

My wife and I spent our anniversary weekend here. The resort didn't seem to have many people staying at it when we were here, which was nice. The complex where we stayed only had 4 other vehicles parked in the lot. So it was nice and quiet. We stayed in a 3rd floor room (top level) so it had high vaulted ceilings and seemed very spacious. The room itself was pretty large, with a large living room area. There was a small covered outside balcony with a couple of chairs so you could enjoy view. While the room furnishing were not fancy they were clean and perfectly serviceable. The exterior of the buildings are not very impressive, but all in all it is a nice clean property for the Oregon Coast.

Now the spa on the other hand was wonderful! We had a 1 hour couples massage which was great. They let you come and hang out at the spa couple of hours before your massage and then you can hang out as long as you like after your massage. They have the hearth room which has two glass sides allowing you to enjoy the view of the bay. The hearth room has a large fire in the middle and it has lounge chairs for seating and magazines to browse through. They have a little drink station in the hall which includes cold water, and hot water for tea and hot chocolate. They have a large outside hot tub under a covered area where you can sit and enjoy the view outside. The staff was phenomenal from start to finish. You are greeted at the desk and then each of us was given an individual tour of the spa. There is a men's only area, a women's only area, and of course the common area for all to enjoy. We stayed there for probably 5 hours. The staff comes around and asks if you need anything. They never try to rush you out and seem to really care about you having a relaxing experience. The only reason my wife and I left the spa after 5 hours, was we were hungry, otherwise we would have closed the spa down, lol.

We ate at the informal restaurant/bar area both nights. Nice staff and a nice relaxing seating area. Over all a very nice place.

Room Tip: choose a the top level to get the vaulted ceilings

gb2000, your writing style is sublime, painting a beautiful picture of your experience at Salishan. We are thrilled that you enjoyed the Resort so. You're right, the Salishan Spa is a vision, in every single way. As we begin to move through a renovation next year, some back and see us in the summer, spend another day at the spa and perhaps a quiet walk on our private beach. Thank you for being our guest!
