“One of the best resorts on the West Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012 NEW

We visited over the Memorial Day weekend, and despite being obviously busy at check-in, Salishan is one of those resorts which even when it close to capacity, has the ability to conceal that fact. The layout of the rooms throughout the Salishan forested grounds ensures quiet privacy, except possibly the gathering of children in the swimming pool following the sumptuous breakfast. I have yet to have any reason to complain about staying here.

“lovely retreat”

Just had a late May 2-day stay at Salishan, checked in on a Sunday and left on Tuesday. No complaints whatsoever, staff were receptive and friendly, room was great, she loved the spa and we both enjoyed the golf (despite the rain). The course drains well and the greens were perfect. The attic lounge was great, tasty and well-priced food and ale and a friendly bartender. The steakhouse appeared very expensive so we didn't try it...the Sun Room? was ok for breakfast, but nothing spectacular there for the price.

Our stay and play (1 night) and spa package (2nd night) was great value for the money, we'll definitely be back.

Room Tip: Get a second floor room so you will have some type of view - also check on wireless internet connect...

“Peaceful Retreat on the Oregon Coast with a few minor criticisms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

We enjoyed an April getaway to the Central Oregon Coast and chose the Salishan for its location and rating of 4 stars. The location was great in terms of heading south on the coast for day trips and also a little North. The rooms felt like a classy cabin from the 1960s and I mean that in a good way. Our deluxe room had a beautiful view of the Siletz Bay with 2 rocking chairs and a large balcony that felt like you were the only people their due to its privacy. The bird watching was excellent from the room with all of the trees. The grounds were reminiscent of our trip to Japan with excellent manicure and coastal trees.

We enjoyed the pool and had it to ourselves most days. The hot tub was very large and the fitness area was good. The lobby was warm and had a lodge feel. Overall we had a great week stay here.

The primary reason I would not return to this hotel is the distance from the ocean. They say its a 10 minute walk, but I would say a 10 minute jog. The ocean is so beautiful here and next time I would certainly want to just step out of my room onto the ocean. This fact they cannot change , but people should be aware of it.

The hotel boasts a 4 star rating, but compared to other 4 star hotels they had a few misses. The rooms were a great walking distance from the main lodge, so it felt like you were at a motel and often wouldn't get to walk through the nicely maintained. Housekeeping was minimal and we had to request things 4 or 5 times that should have been provided like new shampoo after staying 4 days. The coffee table in the room was faux stone and an outdated TV also made the property not feel luxury.

Despite the minor criticisms, I would recommend this hotel if you dont mind being a little bit from the ocean. The rooms were huge 580 sq ft, the bathrooms nicely updated and each one had a fireplace. You will feel like you are at a cabin near the sea, it was a great retreat.

Room Tip: I would request a bay view room, it was divine.

“Spectacular Salishan”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2012

This is the quintessential Oregon experience. Peaceful, quietly inviting, child and pet friendly and so much to see and do in this location. Golf, spa, tennis and hiking. The minature golf was our children's favorite but the pool and playing chess in the gorgeous library was the best. The art and wood panels are so beautiful, a reminder of Salishan's artistic roots. Our room was very northwest decor and lovely. We appreciated the beauty of the wild landscape that so denotes the coast. Our weekend was quite perfect and as we looked around, everyone else looked as relaxed as we were. Also, we were gluten and dairy free and they were wonderful with us and knew just what to do. It was easy.

“Must have the Bacon!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

Stayed the weekend on our first year weeding anniversary. The Alder building third floor room (336) was clean and very nice. Room included a small couch and chair sitting area, desk and Fireplace. View of the bay thru the trees and the building is close to hwy, but noise wasn't a issue could hear the waves at night didn't notice traffic noise at anytime. The balcony had rocking hairs and a small table, perfect for watching the sunset.

Hotel was built in the 60's but has been renovated and has a nice laid back feel to it. Staff was friendly and attentive to our few needs.

The Attic: Lounge upstairs in main lodge. A very chill and comfortable spot with both a couch seating area close to fireplace as well as standard tables to sit at. We enjoyed the 2 person band that played both nights. They had a request list and played many of our favorites at a volume that made enjoying the music and having a conversation easy.

Sunset room- Breakfast.

Were sat very quickly and offered Fresh OJ and Coffee as soon as we sat down. I had the eggs Benedict. Was well put together but sadly the egg was over cooked. Easy to do when pouching and I was fine with it. I am sure they would have redone the eggs if I requested.

Wife had Bacon and eggs. The Bacon was possibly, no it is the best Bacon I have ever had! Still craving it.

The Prime Steak house- Dinner

All in all a very nice place could have done with out the young children at the table next to ours as they were very loud and took away from our romantic dinner. I had the 16 oz New York and was very happy with it. The steak was cooked perfectly, nice sear on the out side and the Blue cheese butter topped it off nicely. Would have to recommend based on the steak alone as it was the best I've found on the coast.

This is no five star resort but it is very nice for the Oregon coast and we will be back for sure,

Room Tip: Request Upper floor room. We had Room 336 had a view of the bay all be it threw the trees.
