“Beautiful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013 via mobile

Nice short 1/2 mile trail down to a beautiful beach. The parking is across the street from the trail head. Worth the trek down. Coming up is a little harder of course. Enjoy!

“One of our favorite trails”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

We visit the area at least once a year and almost always take a hike on the Hobbit Trail. It's aptly named--trees, tree roots, and bushes form a tunnel like path to the beach. Often, you have the beach to yourself. It's about a 200 ft elevation gain over 1/2 mile on the return; not difficult. After passing Heceta Head Lighthouse, while driving north, look for a pullout on your right. The trail head is across the highway.

“A nice little adventure on the way to the ocean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

A short hike under the trees to the ocean. A lot of fun to do with kids that are 5+ and have a lot of energy. The beach is beautiful and fun to walk once you arrive.

“Great walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013

We walked this trail even though the weather wasn't the best but it was beautiful. It goes from the camping side of the road in the Carl G Washburne State Park so once you have parked you will have to cross highway 101 to get to the trail. It goes through some lovely forest areas and when you get out on the road the trail continues down to your right on the other side of the road. The beach trail brings you down to Hobbit beach which is beautiful and you can walk along the beach which will bring you back to where you parked. Fabulous.

“really neat spot”

I'd been hearing about this trail for years, and finally got around to hiking it. Great Trail, and a nice beach once you get there.
