“Local & great selection”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

A nice pub, tucked away from the fray. Great beers to choose from and excellent hospitality. A great stop for locals and some great music venues. Must experience!

“Decent Beer, if you can get in the door...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2013

The Cream Ale is an above average beer, I'll get that out of the way. I have even heard a friend say it is the best beer he's ever had. However, there is nothing going on here. On rare occasion, they have a band or two in, but I have never been able to catch one.

The lack of business acumen of those who run this place is laughable. I have tried recently to go in for a beer on consecutive nights (a Friday and Saturday in the summer) only to have the door locked, with no business hours in sight or note on the door. Who cares if the beer is good if you're never open? Florence could use a cool microbrewery, but whoever runs this lacks the dedication to even run a dive bar.

“A real experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2011

This is not the place to go for food (but they'll order some in if you get here on time).
This is not the place to go for a beer tasting with deep discussion on how the beer's made.
This is not the place to go for a fine view while having a romantic conversation with your partner.
THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO for an all-round fun local experience. It feels like you walked into somebody's basement and they have a keg on tap. Be prepared to be social and you'll make friends fast. The beers are pretty good (especially the stout) but it's really the whole experience which makes this a must-stop in Florence. Worth the drive from Old Town. Don't forget to sign the guest book. My bet is that if you're a Green Bay Packers fan you'll get a discount.
