“River Valley Inn”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We stayed one night there during our Oregon weekend.
We paid a little extra for the concierge room and it was worth every penny.
The complimentary drinks and breakfast were fantastic,

We loved the friendly employee who was in charge of the concierge lounge,
He was so pleasant and helpful.
The rooms were beautiful and comfortable.
Great location for exploring the area.

We recently stayed at the Valley River Inn for the weekend. We had a nice room overlooking the river and river paths right next to the hotel. The room was very clean and comfortable. We were on the second floor so heard lots of late night noise from the third floor above us and also noise from the room next to ours but it was not anything we couldn't tolerate. The food at the hotel was good. There is a small shop in the lobby where you can buy snacks and drinks (though we were disappointed not to find any popcorn...we'll bring our own next time). There's a microwave in the shop but not in the room. There's no refrigerator in the room either but we had a nice tv and plenty of room. There's also a tiny coffee machine in the room. We had a balcony where we sat to enjoy the river view. The staff we encountered were all very friendly and helpful. We had no complaints at all. Yes, the hotel could use a little updating as it's showing some wear and tear but that will not keep us from returning to stay there. This hotel is right next to the river with great walking/jogging/biking paths. We took walks daily on the paths and enjoyed the scenery. You can even rent bicycles from the hotel (we kept saying we were going to do that but never did). Be sure to visit the rose garden in the park across the river (there's a walking bridge over the river not far from the hotel to the park). This hotel is also next to the Valley River Mall so if you wish to do some shopping, just walk on over. There is also a Starbucks a short walk away from the hotel along with some other places to eat . Everything you could possibly need is within walking distance of this hotel. It was a very comfortable weekend at the Valley River Inn and we will return.

Room Tip: Definitely ask for a river view room! It's very lovely. I'd suggest a top floor room so...

Green Features: To save on water, you have the option of re-using your towels/sheets daily and this hotel also gives you the option of not having your room cleaned daily at all. Good idea!

This is our third or fourth stay here. We stayed the night in a king size, river view, pet friendly room. I'm always a bit nervous about the "pet friendly" rooms because of the odor other animals can leave behind. This room was exceptional. You'd never be able to tell anyone ever had a pet in the room. The room was spacious and VERY clean and comfortable. The decor is very modern and we slept wonderfully on the comfy king bed. Just have absolutely nothing bad to say about this place.

Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Their restaurant food was delicious. Grounds were well kept. Our room large and everything (lights, TV, etc.) worked well. Don't know what kind of bed was there, but it was really comfortable. The little balcony off our room was great to open up to the outside air. Stayed for 5 nights.

Room Tip: Can't think of anything else to make stay better.

Green Features: Hotel has some very good green practices which I appreciated. We did reuse our towels and linens.

Only the view and the staff friendliness keep this from being one star (or less if possible). This place is totally rundown and needs a major overhaul. As the room we booked was taken we were "upgraded" to a river view suite.
-moldy, musty smell
-chipped paint
-curtains not closing properly
-wet bar but no glasses
-broken bedside lamps
-electric cords running througth the bedroom
-bath fixtures from ancient times
And just try to get parking near your room!
The list could go on but you get the idea.

Room Tip: Check it out or mold and cleanliness first.

This was our first visit to the Valley River Inn. My son actually found it on tripadvisor. We walked in the door without reservation, were greated warmly, given a beautiful room over looking the river. We travel up and back on I-5 about every six weeks visiting our grandson in Washington state. We have never stopped in Eugene before this trip. We found the room to be all that you could possible want. Lots of room, separate bed room from the living room and the bathroom is quite large.

The Sweet Water Restaurant is fantastic. Great food, excellent service with a view overlooking the river. Casual dining with at it's finest with reasonalble pricing. Great for families.

Room Tip: ask for a river room on an upper floor---great river view

Green Features: I appreciate what the hotel is doing. The offer of a credit at restaurant for not changing out the towels every day is unique. Never seen it offered anywhere.

my sons wedding reception was held here and it could not have gone better.from the friendly staff and great food to the comfortable rooms and relaxing setting on the Willamette river.great location by the mall in the Valley Inn center but it seemed secluded from the mall traffic.the breakfast buffet was great and so affordable.the house coffee is Starbucks which is my favorite. we enjoyed it every morning.

Room Tip: get the river view room. it's worth it.
