Mark and Beth have created a wonderful forest sanctuary, half an hour's drive from downtown Eugene and only 10 minutes from King Estate Winery. We arrived late in the night and found a welcome note on the door, and a bright, warm light that guided us to our room.
The Doug Fir Room is a beautiful room, lovingly hewn from trees that Mark personally felled and milled using the saw mill located on the property. We had a quiet and restful sleep. The room was very well appointed, and the bed and shower facilities were excellent. We also had the chance to see the Yew Suite, which was large and breathtakingly beautiful. All three rooms at Lanzarotta are lovely -- you wouldn't go wrong with any of them.
The next morning, we woke to the aroma of breakfast -- Mark expertly fried potatoes with herbs and bacon on a skillet, and Beth had prepared excellent oven French toast. Breakfast was delicious, and we very much enjoyed chatting with Mark and Beth.
The Lanzarotta B&B is a labour of love. It offers something for everyone - comfortable rooms, wonderfully warm hosts, gracious hospitality, peace and quiet, well-marked trails on a 40-acre forest property, and proximity to Eugene and an excellent winery. Mark and Beth have created a special little sanctuary in the forest. We felt privileged to share their dream.
