We have been fans of Zenon's and Soriah's for years, so were very interested in experiencing Dalia on Broadway. We started with half portions of salad and were surprised at the generous servings. I ordered the spinach--very fresh, with cranberries, orange slices and walnuts--and a very light lemon dressing, if any oil was used it was light. Very satisfying. Husband had the house, and it was also a generous portion, with a light dressing. He inhaled it so I am assuming it was good! He ordered the lamb, served with plain white rice and steamed veggies, and he loved it. The spices made this dish, and the meat tasted like it had been marinated. He was very impressed. I ordered the cod skewer, marinated cod, perfectly spiced and grilled. Served with the usual dill/mayo but the saffron rice was very good as was the cabbage slaw. Yum.
The restaurant was packed at 730 and we got the last table on a Sat night. We were immediately seated. The wait staff was perfect. Quick to our table, welcoming smiles, wine came fast, and dinner was out relatively quickly.
I hated to see Zenons close, and the change in the decor and seating was a jolt. However, now after spending some time in the space, I love it. With the center short wall and break in the room, it made the room quieter somehow, recalling the noisy meals at Zenons, despite the fact that the restaurant was packed! The colors of the walls are subtle with some warmth, warm glow of lights, and cool textured cream walls, all giving this beautiful space a warm, inviting, and casual, organic feel.
The t shirts. I think this is the only place where the new model could be tweaked. They are colorful ,but frankly they bring mall food courts to mind and they lower the expectation and maybe even appreciation (reading other reviews) of the wait staff. Raise the bar here, if the wait staff wore a shirt style, a solid color (go after the bright colors) or even white, it would add to the experience.
