“Excellent Management”

The Village Green Resort

This establishment came as a referral from a good friend. We planned a trip to central Oregon for a college visit to University of Oregon. Village Green is about a 5 1/2 hr drive from Seattle, 20 minutes south of Eugene, where U of O is located. It is conveniently located right off the I5 and easy to find.

The front desk was helpful and efficient. We called at 4 pm informing our late arrival, around 6 pm. They said they would hold the room - no problem. In our reservations, we asked for a newly renovated quiet room. No wait for check-in and we arrived to a quiet, newly renovated, clean, double bed room with a fireplace. After a long drive in the pouring rain, it was a welcoming comfort. We were pleased!

The little town of Cottage Grove closes around 6 pm. So a restaurant is hard to come by. We considered driving to up to Eugene, but settled on fast food. Lots of choices there.

In the morning, the resort includes an extensive hot breakfast in your room rate. Breakfast is an upgrade from your standard affair as they have several choices such as scrambled egg, french toast, biscuits and gravy, hot/cold cereals, muffins, etc.

The resort's gardens are beautiful if that's your thing. The outdoor pool and whirlpool is seasonal. Village Green is a great deal for a clean, quiet, and efficient stop over.

“Beware of unauthorized credit card charges!!!”

The Village Green Resort

I stayed in the suite on a Friday night and was given an incredibly great rate (I believe in error), $50.00 less than their usual rate. I paid cash for the room. Three days after I checked out, I found that the hotel had made an unauthorized charge to my credit card, stating that the room "smelled like smoke", but reportedly not finding any cigarette butts or ashes in the room. I did not smoke in the room, and made several attempts to contact the manager to discuss the matter, but the manager would neither take my calls nor return them. Coincidently, they charged my credit card $50.00.

This property is now owned by Moonstone Hotels and they are working to make it a top-notch facility. About half of the rooms have now been remodeled. During our stay we saw that two other blocks of rooms are in process. There may be some that they are using that have not yet been updated. The remodeled rooms with fireplaces are excellent. Very nicely appointed. Request one of those for your stay and you will not be disappointed. Only negative is the close proximity to the interstate and related truck noise. But this settles down overnight and did not bother us. The gardens are lovely, even in winter. They are each themed (there are several -- at least 10) and will really "show" in the spring and summer. Breakfast was included with our room rate and was good. Fresh biscuits and fruit, eggs, sausage and good coffee. Dinner in their restaurant was also good. The prime rib special outshown the NY steak. Service throughout the stay was excellent

“Wonderful refuge on a stormy night”

Heading south on I5 on a windy, rainy night, we decided at the last minute to find a place to spend the night, and we were lucky enough to find the Village Green Resort. Conveniently located right off the freeway, this property has extensive gardens, and even though November is the not the best time for viewing them, it still made a pleasant short stroll the next morning. The service was friendly, the room was large with a comfortable bed, microwave, refrigerator and a small private fenced patio in the back.

Best of all was the rate - we were given a special "first time visitor" dinner package (mid-winter, and mid-week as well) and for $89 we received a dinner for two (our choice from the menu: filet mignon and salmon), a bottle of house wine (but a decent wine from Chateau Lorraine, a great local winery to visit), a full-buffet breakfast AND our room. The dinner was excellent, the buffet was acceptable (good biscuits and cream gravy). Perhaps the only negative was that the free wi-fi was only available in the lobby, not the rooms - but the lobby was large and comfortable with a fire going in the fireplace.

Overall, a very pleasant experience - and Cottage Grove itself - about 30 miles South of Eugene on I5 - is worth a visit: covered bridges, historic downtown, hiking and wineries nearby -

“Escape Package a must!”

The Village Green Resort

Stopped after a long drive from Seattle on our way to San Fran.
The front desk was exceptional and friendly. Upgraded to an Escape Package which included Deluxe room with a beautiful fireplace, a private garden patio and adorable furnishings.
Also included was dinner for two and a bottle of house wine. The food was excellent as well as the staff in the restaurant. I enjoyed the Salmon (some of the best i have had) and my husband had Filet Minon.. After the dinner we went into the lounge which had live music and cozy sofas by a roaring fire..the entertainment was a jazz musician with a trio backup. It was great..
This hotel offers live music in the lounge every night!
We woke up to a wonderful sunny day and walked through the gardens.. amazing.. spoke to the wonderful gardeners on staff.
Most of the plants are labeled to help out us inexperienced gardeners! had a full buffet breakfast. included in room price!

All this for $89.00! I would highy recommend this hotel..
Beautiful rooms, wonderful food and friendly service..
This is our mid point stay now!
