“We had a very nice weekend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

We had a very nice stay here. The room was nice, the hotel staff were friendly The gardens were lush and had fun and whimsical surprises around most corners. The resort is very near the 15.5 mile Rails to Trails project with the trail running from Cottage Grove to Culp Creek a beautiful trip for hikers or bikers. The resort is fifteen miles from the Teritorial Highway which is packed with excellent vinards and wine tasting. The only negitive we had was that the resort directly abuts Interstate 5 and the noise is quite loud for vacationers on the west side of the resort. I would gladly return but would ask for a room as far from the highway as possible.

Conveniently located after a long drive from Victoria BC the Village Green is a pleasant night stop in which to catch your breath before another long drive the next day.
VG has a very nice lobby with a huge roaring fire place, a very pleasant dining room and a fun drinking lounge. The staff are very pleasant.
All this has to weighed against the somewhat dated rooms. But the resort is under a remake of all their rooms so be sure to ask for one of their remodelled ones with a fireplace and you will be most happy.

We stayed one night at the Village Green and were extremly disappointed with our accomodations. The website states that a total renovation of the property was completed in May of 2011. We have stayed in similar properties owned by Moonstone and were very pleased, and for this reason we made reservations for us and our dog at the Village Green. When we arrived we were put in an unrenovated room and told it was because we had a dog. To say that the outside of the building in which we stayed was dirty and moldy is an understatement. The last time the interior was renovated was in the sixties!! The outside of the building looked as though it had never been cleaned!! Because we had a dog, we were treated as second class citizens. They absolutely refused to put us in another room that had been renovated. Had someone told me when I made the reservation, that we would be staying in an unimproved dirty building, we would not have made the long trip down to Cottage Grove. To me this is misrepresentation.

This hotel is close to the Row River Trail and Covered Bridges Route. The renovated rooms are
large and the attached patios are very nice. The hotel gardens are beautiful and extensive- well worth wandering through. We had good meals at both the Village Green restaurant and bar.The staff was friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: ask for a renovated room

Stayed here for one night while traveling through Oregon. The hotel was very convenient to the highway but was very quiet - at least in the area I stayed in. The rooms are your typical room except the each room has its own small patio with nice plants. Since I had my dog with me I booked a pet friendly room and was pleased the there was not an extra charge for my pet. The room was perfect for him and he enjoyed laying out on the patio. There is a nice garden area with a marked path. There is a restaurant on site but I didn't try it so I can't say what it was like. There was a good breakfast included and it had a good selection of food - including self made waffles. I would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from the highway

Once again we chose this pleasant place driving up highway 5
it is just off of it but the road noise does not keep us awake
The bed is most comfortable with extra clean pillows. I appreciate the linens which cover the bed and makes it feel clean.
The people are always pleasant as are the grounds in each season.
The units which are in unit 9, contain the fright and makes
microwave if you want to eat o. room

First, the bad... We arrived with a reservation for a king deluxe. When we got to the room it was a dbl gueen. Went back to ask if there was a mix up and was informed that our initial room had an out of order gas fireplace that provides all the heat for the room and it could not be fixed before our arrival so we were placed in a different room. Would have been nice to been told this before our arrival. As irony would have it, our room was actually too warm so we tried to turn the A/C on and it didn't work either. We also found numerous dead bugs throughout the room and live ones as well that were crawling in from the garden patio. Rooms are on the small-ish size. Bathrooms are VERY small. Old outdated tube TV without a DVD player. The free breakfast was a big disappointment. No better than a Motel 6 waffle bar. They have this amazing restaurant and all they can give you is a continental buffet? We walked out.
Now, the good... The grounds are beautifully maintained gardens. The beds are very comfortable. The restaurant is excellent! Deffinately this place's saving grace. If not for the food this "resort" would have had a lower rating.
