“Really this is a Red Lion Hotel????”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

This hotel is not a hotel. It's a motel and it is old and outdated. We booked the hotel after looking at the Red Lion Web Site because it had a restaurant and lounge. When we got there it had been closed for years. The placed smelled the furniture was old and warn the chair was stained. the beds were clean. There was no way I was taking my shoes off in this place. Years ago this motel was a hot spot however now it was run down. I think the Red Lion corporate managers need to come spend the nite I this place. The front desk staff were nice and very professional. It's not their fault the motel is in this condition.

Huge rooms, including bathroom. Comfortable bed. Microwave and fridge provided. There was a strong smell of pet urine in the room near TV. Children on second floor above us bouncing all over. At least they quit around 9pm or we would have asked to move. Very busy for a weekday with bus groups arriving.
A/C did not work well this time. High cool was the same as Low Cool...made a strange noise and had to go out to car and bring in my box fan to drown it out.

Goodness knows how many rooms here and how they fill them but plenty to go on this mid May weekday. Older style but with it comes an extremely spacious room, among the larger we have stayed in (there was enough room in the closet for a bed!). Old furniture but OK, an old box TV but worked fine. Heating (and cooling if needed) efficient and quiet. PLENTY of parking. Comfortable bed, clean room and wifi had easy log in and worked just fine. Biggest complaint is that the extractor fan in ensuite goes 24/7 for all rooms in our vicinity which is ridiculous, unnecessary and extremely noisy. Earplugs were needed to sleep. Why not individual fan to ensuite is beyond me, it must be costing them a fortune and annoying many guests. Hot and cold breakfast very reasonably priced so good value but limited 'healthy' options. You will need a car to drive to restaurants, nothing in walking distance. Was comfortable but glad it was only one night.

We booked this a couple of days before arriving and got a great deal - every 3rd night free. Place doesn't look much from the outside but the rooms are great. Very roomy with good quality bedding. Spotlessly clean. This really is a motel rather than hotel but that's what we expected for the price

When I pulled up out front, I have to admit, I whispered, "Oh, $&@#!" It looked like a dive. It was not. The rooms were nice, comfortable, and clean. I would stay here again. We went to the restaurant and at 6:00, there was one other couple. "Yikes!" We were tired after driving for 11.5 hours so we took a chance. I am so glad we did. My rib eye was VERY good. The garlic mashed potatoes were made from garlic and mashed potatoes, and the wine selection was good and very reasonably priced. My husband had the fettucini with prawns and he was very happy. He said the prawns were fresh and delicious. All told, we were pleasantly surprised.

This property is set on a very large piece of ground with vast parking. I would date the property back to the sixty's or seventies due to the popcorn ceilings. Vintage CRT flat screen TV. Modernized bathroom was somewhat clean, behind the door and behind the shower curtain could be cleaner. Large dorm size fridge, microwave and coffee maker provided. The smoking era of the seventies can still be smelled due to the popcorn ceiling. The beds are comfortable and have fitted sheets with a large assortment of pillows. The towels were nice and soft, and appeared near new. The furniture showed some age and the carpet was in good shape. For the price not a bad deal.

Overall a nice place to stay and reasonable prices. The only problem I had was that the room that I was in had an odor to it, and it was the last room that would work for my family on the night in question. The odor was like a root cellar and kind of damp. The room was clean and the staff were friendly but the odor kind of put a damper on my stay. Hopefully this was just this one room and not indications of all the rooms. It is for this that I still think it is giving the benefit of the doubt and not reviewing them as being a bad place to stay.
