“An Awe-Inspiring Place9”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Probably the most incredible views on the West Coast of the USA! Great for whale watching, and home to hundreds of seals and sea lions.

“Cape Arago Picnic and Whales”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

This is a beautiful Oregon Coast Park. There are picnic tables just below the edge on the north end pf the park. While we were sitting there eating lunch a whale came out of the water just below us.

“Gorgeous, and we got engaged”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

This state park was a little difficult for us to find but once there was beautiful. The morning we went to the cape was foggy, a little windy, and quite chilly but definitely worth it. Once we got within the park grounds it was very easy to get along with their wide paved roads and a couple of areas to pull off for viewing. We went to the end of the paved road, got out to do a little exploring, and immediately heard what sounded like a huge group of sea lions!

There was a paved trail moving in the direction the sounds were coming from was we started there. Along the path (a little steep in a few places) were several beautiful lookouts and we did eventually see one sea lion swimming close to the coast hunting, but not the huge group.

After exploring a little and taking some of our favorite pictures from our trip we started on our way out. I was out and suddenly my fiancee yells, "There they are!!!" We pulled over to the side of the road and out in the bay (quite a ways away) was the very very large group of sea lions we had been looking for!

One of the main reasons we had for visiting the park was the Cape Arago Lighthouse which we were unable to find on our trip into the park because of the fog, but by the time we left the fog had lifted and we saw it in the distance. There was a pull off area with a little trail leading to a secluded bench and a great view. After carrying around an engagement ring for the weekend waiting for the perfect moment, this was it. With the lighthouse, beautiful scenery, and private moment it was perfect opportunity. By the way, she said yes.

The only drawback is that the beach is difficult to get to, so difficult that we decided not to try it, and it was a little difficult to find the state park initially. But if you're in the area I definitely recommend making the trip!

“Great views”

Rugged beautiful and enchanting. A great place to check out the wave action and an even better place to watch storms come in.

“Cape of the sea”

Very rough water, not able to get to beach very easy. Beautiful to just view & enjoy from a far. A place where family could go & see & enjoy watching the water hitting the rocks.
