Looking forward to a 1 night "get away" to Hood River, my boyfriend & I decided to stay at the Best Western in Cascade Locks. Pleased with our previous stays at Best Western, we booked a nights stay. We arrived, checked in, & headed up to our room. While on our way to the room there was an overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke. I thougths all Best Westerns were non-smoking??? Giving them the benifit of the doubt and HOPING the smell was only in the hall way, we continued to our room. The smell in there was HORRIBLE. After opening ALL windows and leaving for a while (in search of another hotel)we headed back to our room. At this point it was late and we knew there weren't any other rooms available in the area. *S~I~G~H*
My boyfriend, although trying very hard to be cheerful, had mentioned the smell numerous times, our clothes reeked of smoke and not only the ones that we were wearing, but the ones we packed for the next day also. In addition, I have asthma which made it even harder for me to breath. All around it was a bad experience that not only ruined that night, but the next day also. I anticipated a fun, adventerous weekend away in the beautiful Columbia Gorge. All I can think of when I look back on it now is... O~D~O~R of cigarette smoke, complaining about not being able to breath, having trouble with asthma and our clothes having a lingering smell of smoke.....
