Having stayed at Sea Ranch and the RV Park at Cannon Beach, we prefer Sea Ranch for it's location. It's true that it's not as nice and the accommodations are a little cramped, but we know what to expect and make the best of it. You can stroll into town or to the beach instead of having to drive, which to us, is a BIG plus. We also found the manager a little on the cranky side but that's the way it is sometimes :-)

I understand the frustration of some of these reviews. There is a strip of tent sites along the road that are small and poorly designed with no privacy from the road and ponies. However with a little advanced planning and camping prep this can be a wonderful and affordable place to camp. 1) Reserve early in advance, there are some great campsites here if you look for them. 2) Bring your own firewood. 3) The family bathrooms around the backside of the restroom facility are an awesome but well hidden secret. 4) The campground is only a two minute walk to downtown CB, ridiculously convenient. With a little due diligence this campground can provide a great experience, but if you just show up and hope for the best you could be in for a disappointment.

The nightmare began when I booked a RV site at the beginning of September for the middle of the month. We wanted to stay one week. Upon arriving, there was a short Hispanic lady behind the counter who was terribly rude. Instead of greeting us, she launched right into a spiel about what we COULDN'T do and how much everything cost. The campground does have a laundry facility, but it's $2.00 each to wash & dry - OUTRAGEOUS! The restroom facilities were filthy and the door didn't stay latched, so there was no privacy. The campground also has a general store and espresso bar, but the prices were ungodly. Overall, I would NOT suggest this place to anyone. The prices would have been tolerable if the customer service had been better.

This was the worst stay ever! At check in an oriental lady was yelling at people to wait their turn. The tent sites and cabins are right on top of each other, there is horse poop everywhere and the bathroom showers are the shortest and dirtiest ever. In the evening we were washing clothes in the laundry and needed quarters we went to the same lady and of course she was her same "lovely" self telling us we had to go to Seaside up the road to Safeway to get quarters. After finding nice locals in town and getting a local place to give us quarters, we went back got all our laundry in washers and dryers to have this lady come tell us to get our stuff out of the washers and dryers because she was closing, UNBELIEVABLE!! You would have thought when we were asking for quarters she would have said she would be closing soon. In the morning when we were getting coffee the attitude continued with this lady (I believe to be the manager). You could not put creamer in your coffee prior to putting coffee in it and you were not able to put the creamer in yourself, this "lady" I guess needs to save money so she pours the creamer in herself. Never again will we stay in these stables!!

We rented a cabin and stayed 3 nights. I wasn't sure what to expect because I had heard that they were very basic, but for a cabin that just has what you need, we were very pleased. It was very clean and the shower always had hot water. The futon was a lot more comfortable than the bed so since there were just 2 of us (in technically a 4 person cabin) we slept on the futon.

Keep in mind that there is only a little fridge and a microwave in the kitchenette so when it says "bring your own cooking supplies" don't worry about filling your trunk with pots and pans because there's no where to use them. But there is a nice fireplace outside which has a grill over it so you can cook on there easily. Bring your own firewood if you can though because the only place to get it is the town store and it's ridiculously expensive there ($5 for a bundle with only 4 pieces).

Overall, the experience was very nice and it's located very close to town so the next time we come to Cannon Beach we'll stay here again.
