I really enjoy Cannon Beach it is a wonderful community and there are lots of options for overnight stay. The Tolovana was ok, nice location a bit away from "downtown" but I have stayed a few other places with more satisfaction. It is a studio set up with a full sized refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher...but for the money the Tolovana fell short for me on this trip. A one night stay was quite expensive compared to other options.

First, our room was by the elevator and it was loud. Could not have the window open in the evening because you could hear very well the elevator and the people using it.
Second, the walls were super thin and I had to turn on the TV at 11pm to counter the shower, the blow dryer and the conversation in the room behind us.
Finally, you are expected to wash your own dishes when done or put them in the dishwasher but the dishwasher was not emptied and it was not until the next day I found things I needed for dinner the night prior.
You are also requested to remove your shoes outside the room...at a beach community!
The bath was a bit on the small side and not impressive.

One the more positive side:
The murphy bed in the living was a nice touch allowing the room to be split up into 2 sleeping areas and both areas had TV's.
The access to the beach was wonderful and the restaurant attached to the complex was very popular.
rooms were spacious in length but with the murphy bed out no room to easily walk by.

I doubt I will return since there are lots of options. It was peak season, but still, I have paid way less for equally suitable accommodations. My sister in law had a much different experience and therefore a better opinion just 2 weeks prior to my visit.

Great location! Great access to the beach. Friendly staff. The room we had could use a good preventative maintenance scheduling. The beds were a bit hard. There was no on site convenience sundries on site, but had a great pool and spa. A BBQ was on site. The biggest downfall was they charge a rental fee for a DVD, and it is more than $3.00. All in all, it was very a great price for the nice weather we had for the perfect weekend getaway.

When I travel the West Coast I like to stay at the Tolovana Inn in Cannon Beach. It's a clean, quiet,comfortable and well staffed. The wonderful location has a view of the famous Haystack Rock. The rock is 235 feet and is the home to many nesting birds, like puffins and cormorants. The tidal pools are teeming with invertebrates such as crabs and sea stars. This makes a great place for families to explore the great outdoors. Next door is located the almost equally famous Mo's restuarant. Easy access to the beach opens the day or evening to long walks, At night you can build camp fires on the beach and roast marshmellows. I travel with my Therapy dog and am always looking for the best place for both of us. You will not be disappointed and neither will your dog. They have a nice lawn area for the dogs relief and they even furnish the poo bags. There are also a few free roaming rabbits on the property which are fun to watch.

The Tolovana Inn is located on the Oregon Beach in the tourist city of Cannon Beach. It is very reasonable, with the usual conflicts of design.

1) the room sleeps 2, but only seats 1 unless the other chooses to work at the desk.

2) If somebody is working at the desk, the person in the comfortable chair needs to be pretty small in order to get from their chair to the bathroom.

3) It looks like the room was designed to have a small bay with a coffee bar above a refrigerator. Since the refrigerator was not included, you have some interesting "how do I use this space" questions.

4) As a beach located hotel, they nicely include 4 towels for the 2 people. But, since there are only racks for 2 towels, they put the other 2 on top of the shower curtain holder. So, if you wish to take a shower, you now need to figure out where you'd like to put the spare towels.

Otherwise, the room was clean and neat, staff very friendly, bed slept fine. A restaurant is in walking distance, but if you're willing to drive, the area has a wide variety of choices.
