“Fantastic Tide Pools at Ecola State Park, Oregon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 12, 2010

We happened upon Ecola State Park on our drive in our motorhome down from British Columbia and through Washington State to Oregon. So we decided to stop for lunch and were so glad we did. Before preparing lunch we decided to walk out onto the beach. This is one of the most amazing beaches we've ever visited. Happily, the tide was out and the tide pools were lush with every color of starfish imaginable and lots of other incredible sealife. There's lots of room for kids to run on the beach and so much to look at. If you visit, be sure to take lots of pictures. We will definitely visit Ecola State Park again!

“Breath Taking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2009

A beautiful place to walk and hike with breath taking views. One of the magazines said the 3 mile loop to Indian Beach was an "easy" hike. Actually its marked an intermediate. It was a great hike but a lot of up and down and can be a little muddy. Start on the Indian Beach side because the return hike is a little easier. There are also some paved walks and some advanced trails. Definitely a must do.

“Pretty, but dangerous.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2009

15 minute drive from Seaside, OR. You can go left or right when you enter park. We went right. Parking lot has two trails. One super short but scenic one down to beach where you can walk to rocks, but locals told us "sneaker waves" take lives here yearly, so we only stayed long enough to snap a few pix. I highly suggest at least doing the lil trail. Soo scenic with some great photo ops. The other trail we did for only 10 minutes due to time/travel constraints, but people coming back from doing trail said you just keep seeking the same scenery, so we didn't feel like we were missing out. I Highly suggest walking it for 10 minutes though, as scenery was Totally differnt than beach stuff. There's a pretty stream and tons of tree/shade cover/greenery.... very pretty. There's a toilet right there too. We were there at high tide, so no sealife to view around rocks.

“Worth the effort.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2009

We are flatlanders from the midwest, and really enjoyed hiking through these trails. Around every turn, there was just something more magnificent to see and discover. We even seen our very own, and very cute, mountain man. You can walk as far, or as little as you wish. Very nice.

“Beautiful!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2009

We had a fabulous time at Ecola State Park! We went to this park pretty late in the afternoon. The beach there is beautiful. There are also hiking trails to viewpoints that overlook the ocean. We hiked up a trail and to an incredible viewpoint. We hiked back down to the beach and watched the sunset. At that time, the tide is really low and you can really explore the beach. We saw lots of starfish and sea life! It was very cool.
