“Beautiful short hike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

The walk down from the parking lot to the beach was just relaxing and fun. With 2 kids running and exploring things it took
about 15 minutes. The beach is stunning. A beautiful big horseshoe with locals surfing and cliffs on either side.
There's a small suspension bridge that the kids liked.
Huge trees and 2 small rivers add extra beauty. Easy enough
for the grandparents and up to 6 mile hikes for the spry.
Oswald West is super cool.

“Outstanding Hike”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We hiked down the Short Sand Trail to the beach, then hiked a short uphill to intersect the Cape Falcon Trail. This is a lush, old growth forest with huge trees. The vista overlooking the Pacific Ocean were great. The approach hike to the Cape Falcon overlook involves a short walk on a narrow trail through 8 foot high scrub. This was a highlight of our vacation.

“Something for everyone”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013 via mobile

This park includes nice beaches and remarkable views. It is named in honor of the Oregon governor who "saved" the beaches by having the legislature incorporate them into the state highway system. His beach cabin is a few miles north in Cannon Beach. In his day it would have been difficult to reach these beaches and Neahkahnie Mountain. there was no Oregon Coast Highway. Unfortunately there is no overnight camping. Falling trees have made it too dangerous. The parking areas are there and the short walk to the beach can still be made. If you are driving south stop to admire the view from Neahkahnie Mountain. It is in the park too.

“Nice park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

The walk to the beach was the best part. Maybe we weren't there at a great time, but the beach was very crowded, and wasn't nearly one of the nicest beaches we had seen. There was a waterfall on the beach, which was very cool, and the woods between the road and the beach are amazing as well.

“A don't miss beach on your North Oregon coastline”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

No fee to park. Good little hike down to the secluded beach. We took the suspension bridge to the left of the fork and wondered why the group in front of us was going right. Found out that this path took us to the far left of the beach, and we had an interesting time crossing the creek to the main beach. I recommend crossing the suspension bridge, taking your photos and recrossing to take the right fork, down to the beach unless you like wet shoes and sock or want to play in the creek or prefer seclusion, although the other side certainly isn't crowded. Once on the right side of the beach walk to the far right (or north) end to see a cute waterfall and many little coves and caves, waterlife like starfish and barnacles and aenomes on the rocks. Sit and watch the surfers. We loved it!
