“Perfect destination for a stroll on the beach, bird watching, tide pooling, etc. etc.”

This famous monolith, along with the Needles, which are located directly south of Haystack Rock, attracts people from all over the world and no one ever seems to be disappointed. Everyone goes home with a fantastic photo for their album.

At the end of Spruce Street, above Haystack Rock, is the Haystack Hill State Scenic Viewpoint.

Before visiting you might want to familiarize yourself with the flora and fauna of Haystack Rock and the surrounding area. A good way to do this is to visit the website for Cannon Beach and choose the links that interest you. http://ci.cannon-beach.or.us/index.html

One interesting link is to Haystack Rock Awareness Program which provides great educational information to help you enjoy your visit to Haystack Rock and the ocean front areas of Cannon Beach. At low tide volunteers are often right at Haystack Rock to answer any questions you might have. While the bird are here you may be fortunate enough meet a volunteer with a spotting scope ready to assist share views of the nesting birds.

Tufted Puffins, along with other seabirds, begin to arrive in April. What a fantastic site they are, Puffins fly exactly the same way that they swim through the water!

Wonderful beach destination. At low tide you can explore its base and it is the perfect image for any photo of Cannon Beach.
