“Great view, nice room”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2008

We had a room on the 3rd floor (there's an elevator) for our 2-night stay in January. Wonderful view of the coastline, and the ocean is literally steps away (hence the tsunami information card in the room!). All the rooms here have an ocean view. The room was very spacious, with 2 queen beds, a desk, dresser, small couch, kitchenette area (fridge, microwave) and a small balcony. Nice well-lit vanity area with plenty of counter space. All very clean and new. Free wi-fi (I'm writing this from the room). Cable TV with a lot of channels. I didn't think about packing a swimsuit for an outdoor pool in January but evidently they keep it well-heated because people were swimming ... even in the rain! We had a breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Smuggler's Cove across the street ... good food, reasonable prices, friendly service .... breakfast was best. There's a public fishing pier at the end of the road.

The only drawback I could think of was that my husband paid something like $150/night for the room, which seemed a little pricey for the dead of winter!

Brookings is a cute town but definitely small. In addition to Harris State Park just north of town, Boardman State Park a little further up the highway has a lot of hiking trails and scenic views.

Very pleasantly surprised to find this hotel for the cost incurred. Clean and comfortable, which was all I was looking for. Hotel backed up to the beach which was great as my 4 year old loves the beach.

Stayed here one night on a trip to enjoy the coast and visit friends. The hotel, once we found it, was decent and clean. We had a nice second floor room with a view of the ocean and a tiny balcony. It was great to lbe able to listen to the ocean waves at night. The hotel is located a bit outside of town, so doing just about anything besides walking on the beach (which is wonderful!) involves getting in the car. The outdoor pool is heated.

Only real annoyance was with the lack of signage that made the hotel a challenge to find. And I know you're paying for the fact you're right on the beach, but I was still disappointed that our room at the Holiday Inn Express we stayed at later in the trip (for considerably less) was much more luxuriously appointed than this one.

This was one of the nicest hotels we stayed at during our recent driving holiday along the coast of Oregon and northern California. We had one of their larger rooms, which had 2 queen beds and a pullout couch. The best thing about the room was, it was HUGE!! Our family of 5 loved the spaciousness. This room also came with a double-wide ocean-front deck. Most of the other rooms didn't seem to have the double-wide deck, so I would imagine not all rooms were as spacious as ours. But certainly for a family, our room was great. The furnishings were also lovely.

Brookings is a quiet place. Not much action, but the best thing we found (apart from this lovely hotel room we stayed in) was Harris Beach State Park. It was GORGEOUS. Would highly recommend it.

I have stayed at this hotel before and decided to return because we had fond memories of the beautiful location and the friendly staff.

The staff was still very friendly, but our room was very dirty. There was quite a bit of human hair in the bathroom and black mold around the shower. The carpet was so dirty, I did not take my shoes off in the room. There was also a terrible odor in our room and keeping the sliding glass door to our balcony open did not help. The bedspreads on the bed were so dirty, we did not want to use them. We paid alot for this room, which was to be expected since we were there during the busy summer season.

I feel for the price that we were rippped off. The ocean is beautiful, but we found it also very dirty around the hotel, with many cigarettes butts and dog waste. The TV in the room next to us keep up awake until 2 am. There is noise everywhere here. Listening to the sounds of the ocean is the only positive thing here.

On the fun side, it was enjoyable to feed the many seagulls that come to your door. There is a good restaurant next to the hotel. The food is good and they have a great bar.

Great hotel at a great location, even though it was a little hard to find at night. It was wonderful to get up in the morning, walk out on your own patio, and watch/listen to the ocean. The room was clean and comfortable with microwave, fridge, and couch. I recommend staying at least 2 nights if you can. 1 night just didn't seem like enough.

My husband and I stayed at this property for two nights while he was travelling on business. The property's location puts it directly on the beach, away from the highway. The property was quiet, no excessive noise from nearby rooms, no traffic noise, just the roaring
of the ocean outside of our private balcony.

The furnishings were nice and included a king-sized bed, small desk, sofa bed, and chair with ottoman. The room included a microwave, refrigerator, and small coffee pot. Houskeeping was prompt and courteous when we requested extra pillows and coffee. Wireless high-speed internet worked great.

I would highly recommend this property. Although there is no on-site restaurant and thus no room service, the restaurant across the street is very good and to-go orders are available. Brookings is typical for a small Oregon coastal town. You don't come here for the night life, but for walking on the beach, roasting a marshmellow or two, and enjoying some quiet time.

If one is considering the north coast or the southern Oregon coast, I would recommend the southern coast, as it usually (though not always) has slightly better weather.

  • Liked — The view and comfortable rooms
  • Disliked — The pillows were too small, but still usable.
