“Absolutely authentic experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 7, 2013

While on motorcycle trip along the coast we stopped at Mt. Emily Ranch B & B in September 2013. It substantially exceeded our expectations and in reality it is even more gorgeous than website photos. Looking back on our two week trip it was definitely our best dining and lodging experience. Carol (the owner) treated us with amazing Elk Stew dinner and we tested some home made fruit wines in warm home environment. In the morning we were leaving early and Carol kindly prepared early breakfast for us. Rooms (we occupied both) are huge and perfectly clean and furnished. Common area provides kitchenette and plenty of rest and play beautifully furnished space. There were plenty of other small and excellent details like handcrafted soap gift which we aren't mentioning but which made experience even more enjoyable. We would love to stop again, we believe this is perfect place for a couple get-away or as a stop on your trip. Feel free to contact me with questions.
Note that there is a bit of drive uphill to get to the ranch house but that should not be a problem - even on rainy day motorcycles treated it ok.

We stayed in the blue room at Mt. Emily Ranch for 2 nights at the end of September. It was such a nice experience, from Carol's hospitality with delicious breakfast, Xena the super friendly golden retriever accompanying us on a walk through the property to a friendly "mooo" from the cows in the morning. It was such a nice contrast to living in the city and the peace and tranquility were only "disturbed" by wild turkeys meandering along.
If you have breakfast with Carol, ask about the self-made syrups and pancakes and/or waffles!
The room we stayed in was clean and plenty big for 2 people; the bathroom was very clean as well. Absolutely no complaints and we would definitely stay here again.
If I have to find anything negative at all, it has to be the road out of the city leading up to the property. I don't know who paved/constructed that street but it seemed a little "shoddy" with the black top having a big dip in the road.. Oh well :)

I was looking for an authentic “Oregon” experience on a short bucket list trip with my dad. We spent his birthday here and it was the perfect choice. If you want to feel truly off the beaten path while enjoying a beautiful home this is the place to stay. The workmanship and furnishings were top notch, the spacious family area upstairs with a kitchenette and big screen television was great for a little down time from our hectic pace. Carol was graciously accommodating with our dietary needs, yet still made a terrific breakfast, and we enjoyed sitting around the table hearing stories from lifelong residents of the state.

Thank you for including our B&B in your Oregon trip for your dad; it was such fun comparing our surroundings with your corn field remembrances :) Best wishes to you and your family.

Stayed here for a night with my wife and three kids during drive from Oregon to Bay Area. Beautiful house in a lovely setting. The housing set-up was perfect for a family because there is an extra room with two single beds off of the master bedroom. I screwed up our reservation and surprised them by accident with the kids but they graciously adjusted for us by putting down an extra bed for our third child.

Our hosts were very nice even with our spirited young children. Food was a little heavy for our tastes but we appreciated being asked to eat with their family. My wife and oldest son also did a trail ride the next morning.

We paid $275 for the night plus $10/person for dinner (breakfast was included free). The base price was $200 plus $25 for each of three extra people (the kids). Finally, trail ride was only $25 each.

I think the room price is a little high for the location with the $75 extra. I would have said $175 in total was probably a more competitive price.

However, despite the room price, our stay was an overall excellent experience.

We enjoyed having you stay with us, the children included! I am sorry that you didn't enjoy your dinner as much as we hoped you would. Homemade Spaghetti with Brownies and Ice Cream for desert was the best we could come up with, with only an hours notice. With a 24 hour notice we can offer a much wider dinner menu to select from. We hope that the rest of your vacation goes well and thank you for leaving us a review!

What a great treat/retreat a few miles from Brookings up the Chetco river valley. Carol and her family share their beautiful milled log home via their two very private upstairs suites. This is a new home and the rooms are huge, clean, comfortable and have a great view down the river valley. Do dinner with them if you can and sample some of the fresh meats, fruits and veggies they raise on this 100+ acre property. Plenty of room to roam with lots of wildlife all around, including friendly cats and a golden retriever that are happy to play if you want -- they won't bug you if you don't.

We had the Elk roast (yum) for dinner, fresh peaches and ice cream and some fresh-picked blackberries with our hearty breakfast.

You know those places that you don't want to leave? This is one of those places. You'll be treated like family.

We had the blessing of staying with our family in this Bed and Breakfast, what an awesome and amazing experience that will not be forgotten. To Carol and her family, thank you for making us feel so welcomed and at home. The ranch is amazing and serene. The rooms are great and spacious. The Elk stew with biscuits was amazing and the apple pie was just divine, and sharing it with her family was the perfect touch. Breakfast was outstanding and those waffles were delicious! If you are looking for an amazing and hospitable experience in a ranch, this is the place to stay. Our grandchildren did not want to leave and neither did we.

Amazing experience, one my family will never forget. Thank you to Carol and the family for taking time to make us feel at home. The food and company was wonderful! Special thanks to Clark & his wife for the wine tasting! Fresh berries, the stew was mouthwatering and of course the apple pie was heavenly! Breakfast was another treat and the surroundings are beautiful. My kids have not stopped talking about the trip and miss "Zena"

Room Tip: Room with attached room for the kids is great, so cozy! Kids loved it.
