“A surprise in Brookings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

We stumbled on this lovely little park after a stop at the Information Center that failed to mention it in their list of things to do. We found it while driving the coastal route to the state park. It is a delightful little park that will not tax the moderately physically impaired. It has a nice parking area close to two walkways and the paths are paved. Great for wheel chairs or walkers. There are benches along the way to rest even though for most people the park is small enough not to require one. Just sit and smell the delightful flowers. We walked around the larger grass area where they hold concerts and viewed the children's playground. This is a very special place taken care of by the citizens and it is a credit to the community. Someone needs to tell the Information People about it. No fee...

“Beautiful walking park.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Lots of paved walks, gorgeous flowers when in season and nice plantings year round. Decorated for Christmas with thousands of lights. Free open air concerts in the summer.

“Beautiful and fragrant, great for young and old alike!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2013

I went to this park, specifically because of the reviews on this site. I was NOT disappointed. The garden area was so beautiful and, with the was sun and slight breeze, the air smelled of flowers. There are plenty of benches to sit on, through the garden area, as well as plenty of picnic benches throughout the park. The garden has a cement sidewalk through it, which makes it very accessible for strollers and wheelchairs. There is a chapel, which looks like it would be lovely for a wedding, though there wouldn't be anywhere for getting changed etc. There is also a large open area, just grass, in front of a cement platform, at which I assume there have been concerts and such. The playground is large and wooden, with two different swing areas. The baby swings are high, which is a nice change from some other parks. I would highly recommend making this one of your stops if you are going to Brookings.

“Stop and catch your breath”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2013

After visiting the Redwoods in Jedediah Smith Park your senses will need a respite. We drove up the Oregon Coast to Brookings and found their sweet little Azalea Park. The garden is lovingly cared for by citizens of the town and you can feel the love. It's not a big place and there's not a lot in the way of things to do, but you can stroll among native azaleas and that's a nice thing.

A recent addition to the park is Capella by the Sea. A Hollywood director moved to Bookings and dedicated the edifice to his beloved wife. I say edifice, because they are very careful not to call it a chapel, but I don't know what else to call something were you have weddings, christenings and other ceremonies. Capella by the Sea was designed by the same architect who created Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs and it bears a family resemblance.

Brookings is a delightful little town and Azalea Park is well worth the stop - don't miss it.

“Azalea Park Summer Concerts”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

They have great concerts in Azalea park during the summer - bring your blankets or chairs and enjoy the afternoon on the grassy knoll on Sunday afternoons. The lights at Christmas are wonderful.
