“Great place to take a 2 hour break off the interstate”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2007

Excellent place to stop if you are on the interstate passing by. They have a snack shop and gift shop. The formal dining room is $15 a plate meals and is not really appropriate for someone who is dressed rather bummy on a road trip. But the snack shop has hot dogs, ice cream, and several other things.

I should also point out that probably 70% of the area is handicapped accessable. That means it is also 70% kids stroller accessable.

If you get a chance, get off the interstate a few exits before the falls and take the Columbia River Highway. Just south of the falls is the Vista House. Great historical buildings.

“Multnomah Falls is for every visitor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2007

We visited Multnomah Falls this last weekend for probably the 10th time. We haven't kept track. Just about anyone can do the short, uphill hike to Benson Bridge for breathtaking sights of the falls and the Columbia River below. For the hardier, a longer uphill hike to the waterfall overlook. You can go further but we didn't. We are relatively local but still see this area as a very special place for all visitors. Every time we go to the falls, we see people from all over the world taking in the sights. In springtime, all of the leaves have come out on the deciduous trees and the small wildflowers are blooming. The green colors of the moss and the leaves of the perennials are almost florescent. As you climb up to the overlook, you can smell the wild roses. If you have vertigo, you may want to stick to the lower level Benson Bridge as there are many spots on the trail where there is limited width above a very shear cliff. If you are going on the weekend, get to the parking lot before 9am. We got there at 10 am and found parking easily but it gets crowded on the trails by 11am and by noon, forget about finding parking. You'll want to come early to do several of the falls along the old Columbia River Highway.
