“Lovely River view, Would stay again!”

This was our splurge hotel of our trip, and it was amazing. When we looked at the map, we assumed this was the middle of nowhere and that the hotels would be roadside. However we were struck dumb when we entered this growing city with many high end and normal stores and a very lovely "escaping it all vibe". The hotel is located on a main street but the rooms are tucked away from all the noise. This hotel staff were very welcoming and willing to answer all of our questions and check was simple. The room we stayed in was quite large, with a nice bathroom, fridge, a new television, two queens, and best of all....a river view. The view was really quite stunning and with some searching we found a small path that led directly to the river.

The only downside to the room was that there was only lights in the bathroom/sink area and then three lamps around the room, so overall it was quite dim.

The hotel has a pool side cafe, both an indoor and outdoor pool and spa, a hotel restaurant, a golf course, and an exercise area. All of which were well kept and tidy.

This is a great hotel for anyone; from romantic couples to families to older couples looking to get away.

“Probably won't be staying there again”

When I booked my reservations there were no rooms with a view of the river left so I had to settle for one without the view. This is the second time I've stayed here and the first time we had a beautiful view of the river. It was very peaceful and pretty.

When we first got there they gave us a room with a queen bed instead of the king we had reserved. It was no big deal, but I feel sorry for whoever got stuck with that room. It was SO small and dark - with a view of the parking lot.

I think without the view to distract me I paid more attention to the actual room. I was pretty disappointed. It was a little worn and dated. I'm not that picky about rooms usually, but I probably wouldn't stay there again.

    • Liked — the view (if you can get one), and the location
    • Disliked — worn and outdated, a little overpriced for what you get

This hotel was the perfect "weekend getaway"...delicious restaurant on site, nice little covered bridge connects you to the hotel from your room, wood-burning fireplace in the room, private patio overlooking the river. The hotel is "older" but has been kept up very well and doesn't look old. Very clean. Can't say enough nice things!

  • This TripAdvisor Member:
    • Liked — Great value, great restaurant on site, very nice room, room service was good too.
    • Disliked — No complaints at all actually!

“Satisfying Stay at the River\house.”

One hundred adults traveled by plane and bus to Bend for a ski week at Mt. Bachelor. The Riverhouse staff treated us extremely well. The Grill and Spirits was a nice location for apres ski. We were offered shuttle service in the evenings so we could enjoy the numerous fine restaurants in town. The food at the Crossings Steak House, also located in the Riverhouse, was very good. We had a table of ten and were accorded excellent service. Our server didn't blink an eye when we requested separate checks.

The rooms were very clean and well-appointed. They all had a microwave, frig, and Wi-Fi. My room did not seem dated at all. It had an extremely comfortable queen bed. There was also a queen Murphy Bed. My room had a balcony which overlooked the Deshutes River. Although you could hear some road noise from the balcony, the pines blocked much of it. Some of the rooms had patios which faced the parking lot. The Resort has different room configurations. Some rooms had kitchenettes, while others had fireplaces. The complimentary Continental breakfast was slightly above average.

The staff and management adapted well to the evolving needs our large group during our seven night stay The weather wasn't perfect for skiing, so on one off-day a few of us walked to the nearby River's Edge golf course for an unanticipated February round of golf. Another day many of us took the Riverwalk downtown.. It was probably a bit more than two miles, but on a sunny day, delightful. As an aside, as of October 2006, Bend has daytime bus service, and bus stops are located a block or so away from the Riverhouse. The buses run by about every 30 minutes. Despite arriving during a bit of a snow drought, from what I heard, everyone seemed to have a enjoyable experience in Bend and at the Riverhouse.

The room was too dark and long. The decor is dated and worn.
The bed is uncomfortable with a definate "roll" off the end feeling,as well as being too hard. Bedding was clean however along with the towelsThe view of the river is minimum and the noise of traffic outside was competing with the babbling brook image.
When you close the drapes at night there is a feeling of being in a cavern with no light, or leave the drapes slightly open and see the outside lights all night.
This place is not worth the money and I won't stay there again.
