My wife and I went to the Riverhouse for the weekend. It seemed like a great location, near town and on the Deschuttes river. They offered us a complimentary drink voucher, but it took 45 minutes to get our beverages at the lounge. They have a nice breakfast buffet in the morning, though no one greeted us. Someone left dishes in the hallway. We watched the cleaning staff, manager and security guard all walk past the dishes which remained there until the following day.
WORST OF ALL... we requested a Smoke Free Room. They advised us that the whole wing we were on, upstairs and downstairs, were non-smoking rooms. However they allowed their guest to go out on their patios/balconies to smoke. We had chain smokers below us and were not able to enjoy our balcony or even leave the windows open to listen to the river. We made several calls to the front desk both in the day and evening. The staff said there was nothing they could do. They didn't even move us to another room.
We will never stay at The Riverhouse again.

We were dubious about our choice of hotels when I realized it was right on Hwy 97, but the room we ended up with was right on the river - gorgeous view and we could barely hear any street sounds. We enjoyed a fire in the fireplace with the balcony door open - lovely. The room I had booked looked out on the swimming pool, but staff helped us upgrade to a larger, new room - apparently part of their renovation as the new smells were strong (otherwise they would get a 5+). Breakfast was great, and our evening meal at The Crossings outstanding (best French Onion soup in Oregon, bar none). Can't say enough about the helpful staff! Had no problem with parking or noise, although the hotel seemed to be pretty full.

Room Tip: Choose a room on the river, you won't be sorry.

Thank you for a great review! We are pleased to hear how much you enjoyed your stay. We sincerely apologize if any of the renovation caused there to be a smell in your room. The Crossings Restaurant is certainly a treat, and we are pleased that you liked it so much. I had a great couple of nights here. It was a business trip with rooms blocked out. I wasn't happy with a 'no view of river' accommodation and called the hotel to ask if that could be changed. They were amazingly accommodating and got me a fabulous room without any increase in money to me personally. So appreciative of that!

I also had a special request for chemical sensitivities and they were on top of it and even let me know at check-in that it was discussed with staff that morning and to let me know if the room was acceptable. It was perfect! This requested is often met with rolling eyes and I so appreciated that I was treated with such care and respect.

The hot breakfast was a nice bonus. Plenty of fresh fruit or eggs and bacon if you prefer.

The convention center was beautiful and the meals we got there A+. The staff was attentive, professional and friendly.

I would recommend this for business or pleasure. Lots of beautiful spots 'to get away' with in walking distance. Go to Bend and enjoy!

Room Tip: Ask for river view. Kitchenettes are awesome with stove, dishwasher and refrigerator, would request...

Friendly checking, but clerk was a bit confusing about rate. River view was wonderful, we slept with back door open/screen closed to listen to it. Room service was based out of the restaurant and shut down at 9PM.

Lots of kids' teams seem to stay here, so depending on your neighbors it can be noisy. Parking can be a little dicey when the hotel is full. Not a bad place to stay, though. Rooms next to the river offer a view.

We only stayed here one night sadly, and check in was wonderful, the front desk employees were very engaging and interested in us as people, how about that? it was very refreshing and stood out right away. It was my husband's 50th birthday and we had rented him a new Porsche, I recommend to all wives out there! We drove around to unload our luggage and a staff person walked up with champagne and glasses, such a nice surprise! The room was wonderful, two large queen beds, and a spectacular view of the Deschute's river. I watched a young man fly fish and reel in 5 fish while getting settled in. The pool was wonderful and very busy, you can chose outdoor or indoor. The next morning we walked to the restaurant and had the free breakfast, located in the banquet area. Lots of choices, ham-taters-scrambled eggs-fruit-cereals-oat meal-waffles. I only wish we had stayed a few more days, I look forward to returning!
