After a lonnng weekend of pub crawling in Bend, Oregon over the Memorial Day holiday, we came upon Worthy Brewing Company by way of a friend's recommendation. What a find! Very modern inside and out. Looks brand new. A little loud inside due to 30-ft ceiling and a concrete floor, but that is to be expected in most brew pubs these days. The décor a mixture of modern minimalism, industrial and rustic-repurposing (the wood for trim, tables and benches reclaimed from the demolition of the Salem Hospital - lumber originally felled in Springfield in 1895!). Seating outside takes the cake. Concrete and wood benches surround multiple open-air gas fire pits. Umbrella-covered tables paired with torchiere-style heaters. The patio area is dog-friendly and includes a grass area for yard games to entertain the troops if you're waiting for an inside table. Evenings the interior and exterior are well lit, but still provide some degree of mood for that first or double date with friends. We look forward to our next visit!!
The beer is very good to excellent - having tried their light, refreshing Kolsch, and their amazing, full flavored IPA. For food, we enjoyed the delicious sweet potato fries and the perfectly cooked Steelhead fish tacos! Service was good, despite a full house on a holiday weekend.
