“Great hotel for the money!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in July. The hotel was booked, but got a good deal through the Red Lion website. The hotel looks dated on the outside, but the rooms have been upgraded. We had a larger room with 2 queen beds and loved it. We had good sleep each night and plenty of room for our bikes. The Wifi speed was also good enough to stream Netflix. The best thing was the staff. We had hoped to check in early when we arrived, but they didn't have a room ready. However, the rest of the trip, the staff actually hooked up a hose, so we could wash our bikes! Also, the breakfast is much better than the standard free breakfast. I wish more hotels at this price had breakfast like this. The only downside, but it' not that bad is location. It's not near the heart of Bend, but plenty of stuff withing walking distance (like groceries). I would give this hotel 5 stars, but I tend to reserve that for beyond this world stays. Overall, I'd say one of the best places to stay in Bend, OR!

Room Tip: Upgrade to the larger room...it's worth it.

With a top name like Red Lion my expectations were unmet. The exterior of the hotel is very shabby and area dirty and unkept. The bathroom tiles were in bad repair. The furniture so large that it was difficult to pass without getting impaled on the doors of the TV cabinet.

Booked a room here for a quick romantic getaway and a base camp for a quick climb of the South Sister. Most other hotels were booked, but they had a room and the price was right.

On the positive side, the staff was over the top friendly and accommodating, the room was large and spotless, the bed was comfy and we had fresh cookies and a welcome note (hand written) from the manager, welcoming us to Bend waiting for us in the room. There is a nice little restaurant on site and a outdoor pool. The best thing of all was the included breakfast. I travel a lot and have eaten a ton of "free breakfast included blah blah blah...". This was hands down easily the best included breakfast that I have ever had! Tons of wonderful fresh fruit, a burrito bar and all the fixings, honestly too much there to begin to list.

Only negative is that the entire property needs updating. Kind of stuck in the late 80's, but it is clean and every thing works. Based on my research, it looks like they may be discounting the price, perhaps because of the outdated decor.

To the staff, thanks for a awesome romantic weekend!! We will be back.

This is our second time staying at this location, and it won't be our last! We love how close we are to downtown and all the fun recreational spots. The service here is always excellent, the breakfast bar makes you feel like your at home, and the pool was so refreshing! Thank you again Red Lion, we will be seeing you next time!

The hotel is not immediately downtown Bend, but still well situated for access to city center. The hotel is just very good. It is well maintained, clean, and has all necessary services. The breakfast is exceptionally good, taking into account it is for free (part of the room rate). We were welcomed very friendly, and got good advice where to have dinner, since we arrived relatively late.
So all in all just positive points for this hotel.

The room was spacious and the bed comfortable. The outside of the hotel looks a little rundown, so we were pleasantly surprised by the condition of the room. The A/C is very old and sketchy- it's a window unit set into the wall. Turn the thermostat WAY down to keep the A/C on. Our room had a very quiet location right next to the fitness center. The price was kind of high, but our choices were limited. Get to breakfast early, it is popular and the seating is very limited.

Our king room was perfect for the two of us. We had a ring side seat to watch the fireworks right outside our door. The front desk manager on duty made that selection for us so it wasn't just by luck. The hotel was packed with families and couples but wasn't noisy.
