“Adequate but not as advertised”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

The title "Lodge" and the home website of this hotel convey a misleading picture of the reality of this place. It is definitely not "quiet", only fairly "clean" and a far stretch from being "Bend's nicest small hotel". I am not a picky traveler, though, and i was satisfied with most aspects of my 4 night stay. The room was small but sufficient for me. The free wifi was reliable. There was a big, flat screen tv on the wall that provided a contrast with the old fashioned furnishings. The bed was comfy, and the heater was very effective, quickly warming the room. One of my pillowcases had a rather unpleasant fresh, red stain on it, when i arrived. The location is convenient to everywhere, because it is on Business 97, the main route through Bend. The location also makes this place very noisy with nearly incessant traffic sounds.
The family who owns the place is nice. They responded very quickly and helpfully to my requests.
The breakfast options were terrible-- 2 sugar cereals, fake orange juice, packaged pastries. Only edible thing was bananas.
If you are not picky and are looking for a bargain, you can find a decent bed at the Sonoma Lodge.

From the wonderful reviews we read about on TripAdvisor, we made a reservation at this motel and had hoped to find Sonoma Lodge to be a much nicer property....From the very low price we paid for this room, we should have been tipped off.....when we arrived at the motel we did find that the owner/manager of the motel to be extremely helpful and wonderful in every way. This fact makes it difficult to write the following review: The first sign that you see when you arrive, however, is that there is absolutely no refunds once payment had been made....After viewing the property and its location, we wished we had looked first and paid later!!! The surroundings are very unpleasant and your safety is of a concern. The property is not clean and the lawn was certainly in need of mowing. The rooms were basic....not dirty and not extremely clean....wifi was available and useful.

Breakfast was certainly not as described on other reviews we have seen.....when we were there the breakfast consisted of coffee, store-bought pastry (one type) and a fruit. The advertisement is for a "home-made" breakfast.

Would we go there again....definitely not....there are too many other choices in Bend. The location is convenient but other motels are much better maintained!! I do want to emphasize that if the property was cleaned up and cared for (perhaps a fence around it to block the location), it would be nice......and would match the friendliness of the owners!!

we chose this hotel based on the rate of trip advisor. The woman at the desk was friendly. we had a nice room very clean that smelled good, as well as the towels in the bathroom! There is a table and a working station. There is a laundry on the other side of the street. The breakfast is huge with homemade blueberry muffins. perfectly located with a view on the Three Sisters and Bachlor volcanoes (perfect sunset& sunrise views). The neighborhood is not really "beautiful" but the hotel is quiet. Located close to the road heading to South Sister and Bachelor ski station.

First the Pros:
Bed was comfortable and staff were accommodating. Reasonably close to Bend's downtown area only a short drive.
Now the Cons
Everything else in the room was basic to say the least. Shower has just enough room to wash yourself and there are no shelves or cupboard space to put things.
Small refrigerator with microwave on top, but no plates or cutlery at all and not even a real glass (paper only)..Makes the microwave virtually useless with nothing to eat off and nothing to open a beer or a bottle of wine.

Room Tip: Look elsewhere
