“Cheap option in Bend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We stayed here for a long weekend in August while we were exploring Crater Lake and Bend's breweries. The exterior is a little rough around the edges, but you can't beat the price. Our room was pretty small compared to similar budget hotels we have stayed at, but it was very clean and comfortable. The bed was very welcoming after a day of hiking and the bedspread set was like something you would find in Target or Bed Bath & Beyond...much better than the 30 year old sketchy bedspreads that you usually find in these hotels! Staff was very nice at check-in and check-out. The location is excellent. It would be quite easy to walk to some of the restaurants/pubs downtown but it was 100+ degrees that weekend so we opted to drive. Would definitely stay here again if we return to Bend.

This place is cheap and it is very clean. There are no extra's, like breakfast, but you do save some cash staying here instead of the more expensive place's that are right next door. Plus we backed up the car right to the door so it was easy loading and unloading luggage.

Room Tip: Get one on the 1st floor so you don't have to use the stairs.

Best price, plus rooms are big and have a full kitchen! Bathrooms are great with a very nice shower with awesome power and plenty of hot water. TVs are big with good channel selection. Rooms are clean enough, and the location is fine. Would recommend it highly.

This is a no-frills hostelry, but it felt safe and (reasonably) clean. And the price was right.

Some nice touches we liked:
•The room had a refrigerator and microwave.
•There was a real coffee maker with a small 4-cup carafe. (This was especially welcome compared with the new and increasingly common crappy hotel coffee makers that only make one cup at time).
•The coffee mugs were ceramic and of substantial size.
•There were real drinking glasses, rather than plastic.
•The bed comforter and pillow shams were more like the kind you might buy at a department store and use at home (although a little dated) rather than the depressing institutional kind you usually find in an inexpensive motel.

The Motel West is a great alternative if you are looking to stay near downtown Bend and not in an obvious chain motel.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the beds were comfortable, and everything worked out just fine.

It is a good value for the money as long as you realize you are getting a straight-up hotel room.

We stayed here for one night, and it was a great value for the room. The room was very nice and even had comforters on the bed. The TV was also nice and new with good cable. We stayed here for a concert at Les Schwab and it was within walking distance to downtown (a rather long but pleasant walk) This is a nice little local motel. Check it out.
