I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and presentation. We started off with a small salad with a vinegar dressing and slices of strawberries. It was very refreshing. Some sashimi came next. It was a special menu item that night and it was top quality... rich in color and buttery soft. We're used to eating grated daikon (radish) with sashimi but this dish was garnished with brilliant red grated beets and they worked nicely together. Next we ordered tamago and tombo sushi and both were excellent. For us the signature of a good asian restaurant is well prepared rice. It can't be crunchy (undercooked) or too mushy (over cooked). The rice was perfectly prepared and fresh at Tomo as well as correctly handled (whole grain, not crushed/mashed while being mixed). The sushi had only a hint of wasabi allowing the customer to season as they see fit. Next came a dinner bento which came with generous portions. Unfortunately, the teriyaki steak I got was a bit chewy. But the gyoza was hot and very tasty. Again, the rice and all the side dishes including the vegetable tempura and the maki zushi included with the bento were well prepared. My companion had teriyaki chicken which was very well prepared and tasty. Finally, as a thank you, the sushi chef created a beautiful fruit dessert with very thinly cut apple slices and fresh chunks of orange in a beautiful, artistic arrangement. The only other issue we had at dinner was the lack of natto. Every good sushi restaurant should offer natto sushi. This was a small sacrifice, however, in exchange for an exceptional meal.
