“LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2014

As has been oft-written about this fantastically-located property, one's first overall impression of the building is somewhat hesitant. However, as soon as you are welcomed by either Chuck(father) or son(Caleb), you fears abate; and you realize you are one of the family and could not have chosen a better hotel. Too often, a hotel room is merely a place to sleep for eight hours and to take off the next morning. Here, you want to linger and to absorb and to create lifetime memories just outside your window! Our extremely clean room was 207 and on the second floor facing the ocean and Coquille Point. In two nights, we witnessed two stunning red-orange sunsets and two mornings of utmost clarity. For this upcoming fall, we are planning another coastal adventure, this time originating along the Northern California coast, but without a doubt, it will end at the Bandon Beach Motel!

Even by the standards of motels on the Oregon coast, this place is really basic. There is absolutely nothing fancy about it at all but incredibly accommodating management, everything works, everything is clean, and oh, the view! It essentially sits on a point jutting out into the Pacific just south of Bandon (note that it isn't really close to any food, although you wouldn't be here without a car!). Literally just outside your doorstep is a 120-something step staircase down to a beach that stretches on forever. (Be sure to pay attention to tides, as the beach definitely changes from high to low.) The one downside for us was that the motel sits just next to a parking area and walking trails that are pretty busy, which means that there are people walking around right outside your window. I would strongly suggest a room on the second floor, as it did feel a little "unprivate" down on the first floor.

Room Tip: I would definitely get a room on the second floor, as folks walking the nearby trails or just gettin...

As has been mentioned the property could do with some TLC, inside and out, but our room was spotless and comfortable in general. Just dated.
The location is tremendous, be your preference sunrise or sunset, or all day, it's the most photogenic spot for a hotel to be perched and we all loved it.
The lack of food places close by should be researched beforehand - Old Bandon is delightful and not a long drive, and then there is the usual Junk Food Collection, also not far. We bought supper and took it to the beach with us.

Yes, this hotel has a gorgeous view but I'm not sure that sacrificing comfort was worth it. The hotel is very dated. Our room was 'updated' but it that is true, I'd hate to see what it looked like before. All plastics cups, squishy pillows, bad shower and a double bed. There is no restaurant or bar within walking distance so you have to drive to get anything to eat or drink. If a view and beach access is all you care about then this is the hotel for you. It is very basic.

The proximity to the beach and the view were awesome. The staff was very accommodating. The room was very basic and in need of updating. The door to the balcony had obviously been broken at some point so it made opening and closing a bit of a challenge. The room was a bit stuffy--no AC--so we ended up propping the door to the balcony open. Parking was a little skimpy. Overall it was a good value for the money.

Wait until you open the door to your room before you judge this place. The outside is very outdated and needs some repairs, also in a part of town that my husband joked looked a"bandon"Ed. But the room was beautiful! Great view and seemed clean. The carpet in our room was low ply dark green that looked old and dirty but was in fact clean. A few oddities like an old dark towel for washing off makeup or anything that might stain their white towels. Also, as a girl, I'm always disappointed when there's no conditioner separate from shampoo :-(. But a very cute, quaint hotel with the friendliest staff I've ever met. And an amazing view.

This is an older hotel, stuck in the 80's: white washed oak furniture. There has been some upgrades, our room had laminate hardwood floors -- nicer than carpet in a heavily used space. Bed not very comfortable. Vertical blind window coverings which do not block light. Was a little too warm though did not expect air conditioning which would be rarely needed on the Oregon coast(read ceiteag's review regarding 'private beach' -- that doesn't exist in Oregon, the entirety of our beaches are public owned). Stunning view. Main issue with the facility is their pet policy: no unattended pets, don't leave them in your vehicle. It is unrealistic to think you're not going to need to leave to eat, we crate our dogs when we leave them unattended and post the do not disturb sign on the door. Most unhappy the return to find a nasty-gram stating their policy.
