“Rustic, but great price!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2013

Being on a budget I was looking for an inexpensive, clean dog friendly place to stay in beautiful Bandon. This place fit the bill just fine at $69/night all in. This is a large property with many lodging options, but I simply needed clean, and somewhere for me and my 4 legged friend. The views from my 2nd floor room were astounding and I was only a few steps from the beach. Only downside, was the restaurant closing early.

The view out our patio sliding glass door was the best, ocean crashing, incredible sunsets, and beautiful beaches. The duplex we occupied was old and in need of a renew job, however the view was worth the price of the room. The room next to us (duplex) had a fireplace and that would been our first choice. I must get over that this is dog friendly place and still have a problem with the thought of a canine bedding down on our bed prior to our arrival. The staff was good, there breakfast was bleak, and the internet works.

Room Tip: choose the duplex with the fireplace and be prepared for a room with a view but in need of a refit

We stayed at one of the Ocean Front buildings where we were just a short trip down stairs to the beach! The room was very out dated, but had plenty of space, small kitchen, 2 bdrms and a fire place. There was also a small patio. It appears there are many different kinds of rooms, so check out each one and see what works for you.

Before you go to bed, check the tides and if they are low - go tide pooling early the next morning! There were seals and star fish all over! What an experience!

Room Tip: Ask for an Ocean View! Or a room where you can easily access the beach.

We had a room overlooking the ocean with a fireplace so the ambiance was perfect. We will definitely be back. The beds were even comfortable. Spendy but worth it! We did not stay for continental breakfast. We had a noise complaint about being too noisy and it wasn't even 10pm and the noise was two young girls giggling probably heard them because we had the sliding glass doors open to smell and listen to the ocean. Can't blame hotel management they were totally awesome and understanding probably someone who doesn't like kids probably complained.

We spent two very restful and relaxing nights here during mid-week this winter. The Sunset Motel has a wide variety of accommodations, from newer units to older rustic units. This time we stayed in a second floor Ocean View Studio unit, the newest units at the Sunset Motel. Our room had a nice ocean view looking across the road to the ocean. Although not as good as view as from the oceanfront units of the Vern Brown Addition, which we have stayed in before. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. The Sunset Motel is located south of “Old Town” Bandon on Beach Loop Drive.

The beach here is fantastic, very scenic and great for walk along. We took advantage of the excellent “winter special”, with two mid-week nights for the price of one. What a bargain!

Our room was very spacious, comfortable and quiet. The climate control for the room worked well and kept the room at a comfortable temperature. The room was very clean. The king bed was comfortable. We enjoyed sitting in front of the gas fireplace on the sofa reading and watching the ocean. The room also has a small desk, table with four chairs (nice for playing games, or having a snack), large comfy upholstered chair, coffee table, mini-refrigerator, coffee maker, microwave, and flat screen TV. We liked having the bath vanity separate from the rest of the bathroom. The only complaint we had is the Wi-Fi system in the room was very poor, with a signal only in one corner of the room. Where we did have a connection it was slow (not high-speed) and dropped out frequently. But, on the other had one does not come to the Oregon Coast to spend much time, if any using the Internet.

Room Tip: Winter Special mid-week rates are a real bargain

We live in Lincoln City, but also enjoy spending time further south along the coast. It was our anniversary get away and we choose Bandon, the Sunset Ocean Front Lodges to spend a few days. We are avid Geocachers and this gave us an opportunity to cache in a new area. Our condo was large and roomy. The view out the sliding glass doors was unbelievable. We felt like we could see out 500 miles. It was absolutely picture perfect. We had all the usual amenities; fireplace, comfortable couch, wi-fi, Plasma TV, microwave, fridge. There was a mini kitchen with all that you would need to cook a good meal. Although our place was a bit dated, it was very clean and comfortable. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Room Tip: We stayed street level in room 354, which was actually 3 floors up....from the beach.

We have stayed at Sunset numerous times over the years for business and pleasure. We have rented one of the houses for summer family vacations, frequently stay in the "Vern Brown" direct oceanfront rooms, the pet friendly and the budget rooms as well, for different trips. The rooms are always spotless (although some are a bit dated), the staff friendly and generous with their assistance. The view and beach are second to none and the prices for oceanfront are incredibly reasonable. When asked where to stay...there is NO other place in Bandon to compare. Winter months they offer 2 for 1 deals as well.
Bandon is home to spectacular golf courses and the famous Bandon cheese factory is being rebuilt, a welcome return to the community!
