We have been coming to this hotel regularly for just over a year now. Up until just recently, the really made us feel at home. Staff was for efficient, management was always available and quick to respond and you felt safe! In the past couple of months, all has changed, and NOT for the best.
Its not the rooms or the condition of the rooms that has changed, but rather the quality of guest service and relations!
We recently checked in for a church event in the area. The short older lady that has been at the desk in the past was the one to check us in this time.
A scraggly man was at the desk, she said it was her son, but he had his head down and arms sprawled out across the front desk when we arrived and began checking in. He actually looked as if he was on something, we could not smell any alcohol, but he had a groggily "high" type appearance. We felt very uncomfortable as we checked in, especially when my husband had to pull his wallet out and the man was doing what he could to look into my husbands wallet.
The lady at the desk continued to carry on a conversation with him and did not ask him to stand away, or sit down or anything, but allowed him to encroach upon us while we checked in.
After we got checked in and went to the car to start unloading, this guy that was at the front desk appeared out in the parking lot where we were and began watching everything we were getting from the car. This made us very nervous, to the point my husband told me to take our daughter and go ahead to the room and he would do the unpacking. I feared for my husband, but he quickly got the car unloaded and was safely in our room.
When we told the lady at the desk about out concern she seemed to act as if our concern was nothing because it was "her son", When asked if we could speak with the manager, she became very short and said the manager was unavailable, but she would pass our request to speak with the manager on.to the powers that be.
Well, I guess the powers that be, did not feel we as long standing customers were important enough, as we never did hear from anyone.
But because the guest service and relations we have come to enjoy and expect have faded over the past couple months, so has our decision to continue to use this property. It is sad, as they were well represented by a very attentive management staff, but something has happened, and again, not for the best. We must feel safe, but when even the staff seem to questionable and management will no longer respond, we have no choice to seek safe lodging.
